Alright, so I wanted to figure out this whole “getting traded” thing in MLB The Show 24. You see, I was playing Road to the Show, right? And I got stuck with this team that I wasn’t really feeling. Now, in the older games, you could just tell your agent you weren’t happy, and boom, trade request. But in MLB The Show 24? Nope, not that simple.
So, I started digging around. Turns out, they took out the option to directly ask for a trade. Yeah, I know, bummer. But, I’m not one to give up easily. I found out there’s this thing called the “10 & 5 rule.” Basically, if a player’s been in the majors for 10 years and with the same team for the last five, they can’t be traded without their say-so. Plus, some players have these “no-trade” clauses in their contracts, which is the same thing. Makes sense for the real players, but a headache for us gamers, right?
Then, I found some folks talking about “forcing trades” in Franchise mode. I gave it a shot. I went into the settings, turned on “Force Trades”, and tried to make a swap. It’s a workaround, but it’s not the same as actually being traded in Road to the Show.
But here’s the kicker: it looks like trades do happen in Road to the Show, just not because we ask for them. It’s more about how you play. The better you play, the more likely you are to get noticed, and maybe, just maybe, another team will want you. And, if you are not satisfied with your team, the worse you play, the more likely your team will trade you.
- I started mashing the ball, getting hits left and right.
- I was striking out batters like it was my job.
- I even tried to adjust the ‘Trade Frequency’ in the game settings.
Guess what? It kinda worked. I got traded! It wasn’t immediate, and it wasn’t because I asked. It was more like, I showed them what I could do, and another team came knocking. Or I showed them that I am not a good player, and my team kick me out.
So, if you’re out there trying to get traded in MLB The Show 24, here’s my two cents:
- Play your heart out (or not). Show them what you’re made of, or show them you’re not worth it.
- Don’t give up hope. Trades do happen, even if it takes some time.
- Mess around with the settings. If you’re really desperate, try the “Force Trades” thing in Franchise mode.
It’s not the same as the old games, but hey, it’s something. And honestly, it felt pretty good to finally get traded, even if it was a bit of a roundabout way.
