Okay, let me walk you through what I did today. It started pretty normally, just settling in with my morning routine.
Getting Started with the NYT Puzzle Thing
So, first thing, I grabbed my tablet. You know how it is, gotta get the brain working a little. I usually check out the news, but today I decided to jump straight into one of those New York Times games. Connections, I think it’s called? Yeah, that one.
I opened it up. Looked simple enough. Sixteen words staring back at me. The goal? Find four groups of four words that share something in common. Easy peasy, right? That’s what I thought, anyway.
Working Through It
The first group clicked almost immediately. I saw four words related to, like, kitchen stuff. Bam. Selected them, hit submit. Got that satisfying little chime. Felt pretty good about myself.
Then I started looking for the next one. This took a bit longer. I shuffled the words around on the screen, dragging them here and there. Thought I had another group, something about types of music maybe? Submitted it. Nope. Wrong. Okay, no big deal, still got plenty of guesses.
Tried another combination. Still wrong. Goodness gracious, this was getting trickier than I remembered. I stared hard at the remaining words. Some seemed obvious, others… not so much. I managed to piece together the second group after a few more failed attempts. Something about different ways to, uh, talk, I guess.

Down to the last eight words. This is where it really slowed down. I kept seeing pairs, but couldn’t figure out how to make a group of four. Moved ’em around again. Tried a combination that felt like a real stretch. Wrong again. One more guess left.
The Final Push and Realization
I just stared at the screen for a solid minute. What connection could these words possibly have? They seemed completely random. Felt like the NYT was just messing with me at this point. I finally just picked four words that had a vaguely similar feel, if that makes sense? Held my breath and hit submit.
It worked! The last two groups revealed themselves. I looked at that final group, the purple one. The connection was something I would never have thought of in a million years. Seriously obscure stuff.
So, yeah. Solved it. But only just. Made me shake my head a little. Those puzzle makers over there, they really come up with some things. Good fun, keeps the mind sharp, but man… goodness gracious, NYT.
