So, I’ve been itching to play Helldivers 2 with my buddies, and I was trying to figure out the cheapest way to do it. Naturally, I thought, “Game Pass, right?” I mean, Game Pass is awesome for trying out tons of games without breaking the bank.
I jumped onto my Xbox and started searching for Helldivers 2 in the Game Pass library. I scrolled and scrolled, but nothing. Hmm, that’s weird. Maybe I typed it in wrong? Nope, still nothing.
Then, I did a little digging online. Turns out, Helldivers 2 isn’t on Game Pass. And it’s probably never going to be. Bummer, I know.
Why No Game Pass Love?
It all comes down to who’s publishing the game. See, Sony Interactive Entertainment is the publisher, and they also make the PlayStation 5. It makes total sense when you realize those two are related.
Sony hasn’t put any of their games on a Microsoft console before, so it is very rare that Helldivers 2 would ever appear on Game Pass.
So, what did I do? Well, I ended up just buying the game outright. It set me back a bit more than a Game Pass subscription would have, but hey, at least I can play it now! I couldn’t wait any longer to try those missions.
My advice if you’re in the same boat: just bite the bullet and buy it if you really wanna play. Or, you know, wait for a sale if you’re patient. I’m definitely not known for my patience, though!
