Okay, let’s talk about my little project involving Goldberg in WWE. Not watching him, but trying to recreate something specific.
My Goldberg Streak Attempt
So, I got this idea a while back. You know Goldberg’s famous streak in WCW? Yeah, that crazy run. I thought, hey, can I replicate that feeling, that dominance, but using a WWE game? Seemed like a fun little challenge for a weekend.
First thing, I booted up my console and fired up one of the WWE 2K games. Can’t remember which one exactly, maybe 2K19 or 2K20? Doesn’t really matter. The point was to use their Goldberg character model. They usually have a pretty good one.
Next up, I needed to set the stage. I went into the Universe Mode, ’cause that lets you kind of control things. I put Goldberg on the Raw roster, I think. Made sure he wasn’t in any tag teams or feuds just yet. Just a solo act ready to smash people.
The Setup Process
- Picked the Goldberg character.
- Put him into Universe Mode on a main show.
- Cleared his schedule – no automatic rivalries.
- Cranked the difficulty up pretty high. Not the highest, ’cause I wanted to win, but high enough to make it feel like a struggle sometimes.
- Decided I wouldn’t simulate any matches. Had to play every single one myself.
Playing it Out
Alright, so the “streak” began. Week one, booked him against some lower-card guy. Went in, Spear, Jackhammer, 1-2-3. Just like you’d expect. Felt good. Easy start.

Did this week after week. Tried to keep the matches short and explosive, just like Goldberg’s real ones back in the day. Spear, Jackhammer. Sometimes just a Spear was enough if the opponent was weak enough in the game. It was kind of repetitive, sure, but that was the point. Building that momentum.
Things got trickier when the game started booking him against main eventers. Guys like Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar (the game version, obviously), AJ Styles. These matches weren’t always quick squashes. Sometimes the AI would reverse my Spear, or kick out of the Jackhammer. That was frustrating! Broke the illusion a bit. Had a few really close calls where I almost lost. Had to really focus, use reversals carefully, pick my spots.
Challenges Faced
- AI reversing key moves at annoying times.
- Stronger opponents kicking out of finishers.
- Keeping matches short and dominant consistently.
- Resisting the urge to just simulate boring matches.
I kept a notepad next to me, old school style. Wrote down the wins. 1-0, 2-0, 3-0… It was satisfying seeing the number go up. I think I got up to something like 25-0 or 30-0 over a few playing sessions. It wasn’t the crazy 173-0 or whatever the official number was, but it felt like a decent run in the game’s context.
Eventually, I think I got bored, or maybe the game booked him in some storyline I didn’t like. The “streak” kind of just ended because I stopped playing that specific save file. Didn’t lose, just… stopped. But it was a fun experiment! Trying to replicate that aura of invincibility, even in a video game. Took a bit of patience, some setup, and just grinding through those matches. Good times.
