Okay, so I’ve been a huge Kurt Angle fan since, like, forever. His wrestling style, his intensity…the dude’s a legend. And I’ve always wanted to put together his iconic look, specifically his singlet. Here is how I started and pulled it off.

Finding the Base
First things first, I needed the singlet itself. This proved trickier than I thought. It’s not like you can just walk into any store and find a wrestling singlet, you know? I started searching like a hawk.
- I looked on every website that I found.
- I did some searching at local sporting goods stores, struck out there big time. Totally useless.
- Finally, I went searching and found some generic wrestling singlets. Bingo!
I went with a plain red one, figuring I could modify it to match Kurt’s style. I made sure to get one that fit pretty snugly – gotta have that wrestler look!
Adding the Details
Now for the fun part – making it look like Angle’s. I wanted to keep a record of this part.
- The Straps: Kurt’s singlet has those distinctive white straps. So, I bought some wide, white elastic fabric. I measured out the length I needed, making sure they’d go over my shoulders comfortably.
- Sewing Time: I’m no expert with a needle and thread, to be honest. I carefully pinned the elastic to the singlet, making sure it was evenly spaced and looked symmetrical. Then, with lots of help and tutorials, I hand-sewed the straps onto the singlet. It wasn’t perfect, but it held up!
- The Stars: Kurt’s singlet also sometimes features stars. I thought about painting them on, but figured that might look messy. Instead, I found some iron-on star patches. Super easy! I just positioned them where I wanted them on the singlet and ironed them on, following the instructions on the patch package.
The Final Touches
With the singlet done, I needed a few more things to complete the look.
- Boots: I grabbed some old, and I mean OLD, boots. Laced them up tight. Boom. Instant wrestling vibe.
- Medals: You can’t be Kurt Angle without the gold medals! I got a bunch of big, plastic gold medals, and hung them on some ribbons.
Putting it all together, I felt like a total badass. It may have taken some time and I am not a professional, but it worked for me.

I gotta say, recreating Kurt Angle’s attire was a blast. It’s a great feeling to pay homage to one of my childhood heroes. Maybe next time I’ll try his Team Angle look… but that’s a project for another day!
