Okay, so I wanted to get a better handle on the Iowa State Cyclones football team’s lineup. You know, see who’s playing where, who’s backing up who, that sort of thing. So I decided to dig into their depth chart.

First, I started by hitting up Google. Just a simple search, you know, “Iowa State Cyclones depth chart”.
I found some stuff, but it can get * is always changing!
My Tracking Progress
So, I figured, I’d just keep my own notes. Make it simple. I started a little document.
- Quarterback: Okay, found the starter, noted the backup.
- Running Back: Same deal. Starter, second string, third… you get the idea.
- Wide Receivers: This one gets tricky, with all the different formations, but I just tried to list them in order of, well, who seems to be on the field most.
- And so on… I just went down the line, position by position. Offensive line, defensive line, linebackers, secondary… the whole nine yards.
Then, during the games I pay attention to see if it is correct.
It’s not perfect, but it gave me a much better picture of the team. Plus, updating it after each game makes it easier to follow along. It is just satisfying.
