Okay, so I’ve been playing a TON of Disney Dreamlight Valley lately. I’m obsessed, I admit it! And like any good addict, I needed to find the most efficient ways to make money and, well, just survive. I saw some folks online talking about Kappa Maki, so I decided to give it a shot.

First things first, I needed to unlock the recipe. For that, I had to get Remy to Friendship Level… I think it was level 2? Maybe 3? It was early on, anyway. He gave me the Maki recipe, and thankfully, it’s super basic.
The Kappa Maki recipe needs these three things.
- Seaweed
- Rice
- Cucumber
Getting the Ingredients
This is where the “grind” comes in, but honestly, it’s not that bad.
Seaweed: Easiest part. I just went down to Dazzle Beach and started fishing. Not in the bubbly spots, just anywhere in the water. Took me maybe 10 minutes to get a decent stack of seaweed. I caught, like, 20 of them super fast.
Rice: I already had Goofy’s stall upgraded in the Glade of Trust. If you don’t, you gotta do that! You can buy rice seeds there. Plant them, water them…you know the drill. I think they take about 50 minutes to grow? Something like that. I planted a bunch so I wouldn’t have to keep going back.

Cucumber: This was the tricky one. I had to unlock the Frosted Heights biome, which cost me a good chunk of Dreamlight. Then, I had to upgrade Goofy’s stall there to get access to cucumber seeds. Those suckers take a while to grow, too, over an hour I planted them and then went off to do other quests while I waited.
Making the Kappa Maki
Once I had everything, I ran to the nearest cooking station (I usually use the one in Remy’s restaurant because it’s convenient). I selected one of each ingredient: seaweed, rice, cucumber. Boom! Kappa Maki. I did this a whole bunch of times, until I had a nice, big stack of ’em.
Selling and Getting my Money!
Finally, the payoff! I went back to Goofy’s stall (any of them will do) and sold all the Kappa Maki. They sell for a pretty decent price. It’s not a get rich quick scheme, but it’s definitely a reliable way to make some Star Coins, especially if you’re still early in the game and need some quick cash. This is a simple and effective way for me.
So, that’s my Kappa Maki adventure! It’s a bit of work upfront, but it’s become my go-to for making money in Dreamlight Valley. Hope this helps someone else out there!
