Today, I was watching some baseball videos, and two names kept popping up: Gerrit Cole and Trevor Bauer. I knew they were both big-shot pitchers, but I didn’t know much beyond that. So, I decided to do some digging.
First, I opened up my browser and typed in “Gerrit Cole”. Man, this guy is a powerhouse! The search results showed me all about his crazy fastball and his massive contract with the New York Yankees. I spent a good 30 minutes just reading articles and watching clips of his best strikeouts. This dude is intense on the mound!
Then, I did the same thing for Trevor Bauer. His search results were a bit different. I found out he’s also a top-tier pitcher, but he’s more known for his, let’s say, unconventional personality. He’s got this whole YouTube channel where he does pitching breakdowns and other stuff. I watched a couple of his videos, and it’s definitely entertaining. He’s not afraid to speak his mind, that’s for sure.
More research and finding
After getting a basic idea of who they were, I was curious about their history. That’s when things got interesting. I typed in “Gerrit Cole Trevor Bauer rivalry” and bam! A whole bunch of articles popped up about their time together at UCLA. It turns out they were teammates, but they didn’t exactly see eye-to-eye.
- College Days: I learned that they were both star pitchers for the UCLA Bruins, but their personalities clashed. Cole was more of the quiet, focused type, while Bauer was more outspoken and experimental with his training methods.
- Different Paths: I read about how they both got drafted into Major League Baseball, Cole going first overall in 2011 and Bauer going third. They both had a ton of success, but their careers took different trajectories.
- The Feud: Apparently, there were some comments made back and forth over the years, both in interviews and on social media. It wasn’t like a full-blown war, but there was definitely some tension there. It seems like a mix of competition and maybe a little bit of jealousy. I found a few articles where they each took some subtle jabs at the other’s pitching style or personality. Classic stuff.
I spent the rest of the afternoon going down this rabbit hole, reading old interviews, watching highlights, and trying to piece together the whole story. It was actually pretty fascinating. It’s like one of those classic sports rivalries, even though they haven’t really faced each other that much in the majors.
By the time dinner rolled around, I felt like I had a pretty good handle on the Gerrit Cole and Trevor Bauer saga. Two incredibly talented pitchers, who came up together, but couldn’t be more different. It just goes to show you, even in the world of professional sports, personalities and rivalries can make things extra interesting. From there I watched some of their videos again, and went to sleep.
