Listen up, you young’uns, gather ’round and let me tell ya ’bout this here Georgia and NC State baseball thing. That’s what folks are talkin’ about, and I heard a thing or two down at the general store.
So, these two teams, Georgia Bulldogs, sounds like a mean dog, and NC State Wolfpack, like a wolf from the forest, they’re goin’ at it. Playin’ baseball. Now, I ain’t never been much for sports, but I hear this is a big deal. Somethin’ called the College World Series. Sounds fancy, don’t it?
They played a game, this one fella told me, and that NC State, they just walloped them Georgia boys. Scored a whole bunch of runs, somethin’ like eleven, all in one go! Imagine that, eleven runs! Musta been somethin’ to see.
- NC State, they strong like bull.
- Georgia, they try hard, bless their hearts.
- This baseball, it’s a big hootenanny, I reckon.
Then they played another game, and it was closer. This Georgia, they got a fella named Charlie. Charlie Condon, that’s his name. He hit the ball real far, they say. A home run, they call it. Like hittin’ it clear outta the park! Still, them NC State boys, they won that game too. 8 to 5, I heard. Tough luck for Georgia. 8 to 5! Can you imagine?
Now, this ain’t the first time Georgia’s been in this here baseball fuss. They’ve been there four times, I heard! Four times! But them NC State fellas, they just too strong this time. It’s a shame, but that’s how it goes sometimes, I guess. You win some, you lose some. Just like life, ain’t it?
Folks are bettin’ on these games, too. Can you believe it? Puttin’ money on who’s gonna win. I heard that NC State, they were the underdogs. Means folks didn’t think they’d win. But they did! They showed ’em, didn’t they? Just goes to show, you can’t always judge a book by its cover, as they say. This georgia and nc state baseball match, it’s been a real nail-biter.
This whole thing, it’s happenin’ in a place called Omaha. Sounds far away, don’t it? Must be a big city, I reckon. I ain’t never been further than the county fair myself, but I hear Omaha is where all the big baseball happens. Georgia baseball got close, but not close enough this time.
Well, that’s all I know about this Georgia and NC State baseball business. Seems like them NC State boys are the ones to watch. They’re goin’ on to that College World Series thing. Good for them, I say. They earned it. And poor Georgia, they gotta try again next year. That’s the way the cookie crumbles, I suppose.
But that Charlie, from Georgia baseball team, that Charlie Condon, he sure can hit that ball. Maybe next year they’ll go all the way. You never know. That’s what makes it excitin’, I guess. Even for an old gal like me who don’t know much about baseball. I just hear things from folks in town, you know. That NC State baseball team, though, they are really somethin’ this year. I heard they beat many teams this year.
I still remember when my boy played baseball, he was not bad, but I do not think he can make it to the College World Series. He is a good boy, though. It is good that these young men can play sports. Keep them out of trouble, I say. Keeps ’em busy and outta mischief. Good, clean fun. Well, mostly clean, I reckon, with all that dirt and grass and sweat. Still, better than some of the other things they could be gettin’ into. Hope they have a good game, though.
This georgia and nc state baseball game, it is really popular around here. I think it is good that they show it on the TV so that everyone can watch, no matter you are a Georgia fan or an NC State fan. I heard that many people are going to watch this game, because it is very important. It is good to have something to cheer for, somethin’ to get excited about. Reminds me of the county fair, when everyone would come out to see the prize-winnin’ pigs and the pie-eatin’ contest. Good times, good times. Those were the days.
I think I will watch the game later, just to see what all the fuss is about. Maybe I will even learn somethin’. You are never too old to learn somethin’ new, I always say. But I am not sure if I can understand all the rules, baseball is not an easy game, you know. As long as those boys are havin’ fun and playin’ fair, that is all that matters. And stayin’ out of trouble, of course. That is important, too. Well, I best be goin’ now. Got chores to do. But you young’uns, you enjoy that baseball. And remember what I said about stayin’ outta trouble!
