My Little Journey Trying to Predict AC Milan Games
So, I’ve been following AC Milan for ages, right? Like, way back. And you know how it is, you watch enough games, you start thinking you know what’s going to happen next. It started pretty casually, just chatting with friends, saying “Oh, Milan will definitely win this weekend” or “Nah, this opponent is tricky, maybe a draw.”

Then I thought, maybe I could get a bit more structured about it. Just for myself, you know, see how often I could get it right. I wasn’t doing anything fancy, no crazy math or anything. Just looking at the basics.
What I Started Looking At
- Recent Form: Were they winning lately? Scoring goals? Or conceding silly ones?
- Injuries/Suspensions: This was a big one. If Leão was out, or Maignan, that changes everything, doesn’t it?
- Opponent’s Strength: Were they playing Inter or Juve, or some team struggling at the bottom?
- Home vs Away: San Siro feels different, right? Always felt they had a better chance at home.
- Head-to-Head: Sometimes certain teams just seem to have Milan’s number, or vice-versa.
I started jotting down my predictions before each game. Just the result – win, lose, or draw. Sometimes the score, if I felt brave. Honestly? It was tough. Football is just mad unpredictable. I remember one time, everything pointed to a comfortable Milan win against a smaller team. All my checks looked good: form was great, key players fit, playing at home. And boom, they somehow scrape a draw or even lose. So frustrating!
I quickly realized that just looking at the simple stuff wasn’t enough. There’s so much more going on. Player morale, tactical decisions by the gaffer on the day, sometimes just pure luck – a deflected shot, a dodgy VAR call. How do you predict that?
Hitting a Wall
After a while, I kind of stopped keeping detailed notes. It felt like I was spending more time trying to figure out the why behind past weird results than actually predicting future ones accurately. It took some of the fun out of just watching the game. I’d be sitting there, annoyed my prediction was wrong, instead of just cheering for the boys.

You’d think you’d get better with time, but Milan always finds new ways to surprise you – good and bad! One week they look unbeatable, the next they struggle against a team they should easily beat. That’s just the Milan way sometimes, I guess.
So, What Now?
These days, I don’t really bother with trying to make serious predictions anymore. I’ll still have my gut feelings, of course. Before a match, I’ll think “Yeah, feeling good about this one” or “Oof, this might be tough.” But it’s more about the feeling, the hope, than any real attempt at analysis.
Honestly, it’s more enjoyable this way. I just watch the game, ride the emotional rollercoaster with the team, and celebrate the wins like mad. Trying to predict Milan? It’s a fun thought experiment, but for me, it’s mostly guesswork. The real fun is just supporting the Rossoneri, win, lose, or draw.
