Okay, so today I decided to give this “Fantasy Basketball Grid” thing a shot. I’d seen it pop up a few times, and figured, why not? I’m a pretty big basketball fan, so it seemed like a fun little distraction.

First, I went and found the grid. It’s basically a 3×3 table, and each row and column has a different criteria. It could be a team, an award, a statistical milestone, that sort of thing. The goal is to fill in each square with a player who fits both the row and column criteria.
I started out pretty confident. I mean, I know my basketball, right? The first few squares were easy. Like, one was “Lakers” and “MVP” – so, obviously, I put down LeBron James. Another was “Celtics” and “Scoring Champion,” and I quickly typed in Larry Bird.
But then… things got tougher. I hit a square that was “Rockets” and “All-Defensive Team.” My mind went completely blank for a minute. I was racking my brain, trying to remember every Rockets player I could. Finally, after a bit of a struggle, I remembered Hakeem Olajuwon. Phew!
- Started with the easy ones – felt like a genius.
- Got progressively harder – started sweating a little.
- Had a few “aha!” moments – felt like a genius again.
- Stared blankly at the screen for way too long on some squares.
I spent a good chunk of time on this, going back and forth, second-guessing myself, and occasionally hitting up Google to double-check some stats. It was definitely more challenging than I expected! Some of those combinations were real head-scratchers.
My Grid Result
The grid ended up like following:

Lakers Celtics Rockets
MVP LeBron James
Scoring Champion Larry Bird
All-Defensive Team Hakeem Olajuwon

It’s still in process, I will complete it sooner.
Overall, it was a fun way to test my basketball knowledge. It’s definitely something I’d try again, maybe with some different criteria to keep things interesting. If you’re a hoops fan, I’d recommend giving it a shot – just be prepared to spend a little more time than you think!
