Okay, so I’ve been messing around with some data, trying to figure out this whole Joel Embiid predictions thing. It’s a bit of a rabbit hole, but I’ll walk you through what I did.

Getting Started
First, I needed some info, right? So I started looking for recent games, you know? Like, how many points he’s been scoring, rebounds, all that stuff. Just to get a feel for his current form. I mainly looked at the box scores, nothing too complicated to start.
Diving Deeper
Then, I started thinking, “Okay, past performance is cool, but what about the matchups?” So I started to dig into who the Sixers were playing. Are they a tough defensive team? Do they have a big man who can actually guard Embiid? (Spoiler alert: not many can!). This part took a bit longer because I had to look at individual player stats and team defensive ratings, see how other centers had performed against the same opposition before.
Building My “Prediction”
- I looked at Embiid’s average points, rebounds, and assists over the last, say, 10 games.
- I checked out the opponent’s defensive stats – how many points they allow to centers, their overall defensive ranking, that kind of thing.
- Considered any recent injuries or news. Is Embiid playing hurt? Is the other team missing their star defender?
Based on all that, I just kind of… winged it! Seriously, I made an educated guess. It’s not like I have some fancy algorithm. I took his averages, factored in the opponent, and thought, “Yeah, he’ll probably get around this many points, this many rebounds.”
Checking My Work
After the game, I obviously went back and checked how I did. Sometimes I was pretty close! Other times… not so much. It’s all part of the fun, really. I realized so many other unpredictable variables affect the performance like sudden changes in gameplay, or a bad day, things like that. It’s just the nature of sports.
This whole thing is more of a hobby than anything scientific. It’s a fun way to engage with the games, and hey, sometimes you get bragging rights when your prediction is spot on!
