Well, let me tell you about this baseball game, the Dodgers vs Phillies. It was a real barn burner, I tell ya. Lots of folks were watchin’.

Them Dodgers, they got some good players. And them Phillies, they got some good players too. Hard to keep track of ’em all, but they sure can hit that ball.
- One fella, he hit the ball real far.
- Another one, he ran like a scared rabbit!
- They all try their best, that’s for sure.
That There Game, Dodgers vs Phillies
This game, it went back and forth. One team would get ahead, then the other would catch up. Kept everyone on the edge of their seats.
One of them Phillies, I think his name was, uh…big fella…he hit that ball clean outta the park! Everyone went wild, I tell ya. The crowd, they was a-hollerin’ and a-screamin’.
- Phillies got runs.
- Dodgers got runs, too.
- Lots of running around them bases.
Them Player Stats
Now, I ain’t one for all them numbers, but they keep track of everything these days. How many times they hit the ball, how many times they catch it, how fast they run. You name it, they got a number for it. This one fella named Chase, he played for the Phillies. Seemed like a decent sort.
They call it “stats“. Like, how many runs a fella gets. Or how many times he strikes out. I don’t rightly understand all of it, but it seems important to some folks.
- AB – that’s when they try to hit, I reckon.
- R – that’s for runs, when they make it all the way around.
- H – that’s a hit, when they whack that ball good.
Phillies and Dodgers, They Played Hard
Both teams, they played real hard. You could tell they wanted to win. Sweat was drippin’, dirt was flyin’. It was a real spectacle, I tell ya.
And the crowd, they was into it. Cheerin’ and hollerin’. Some folks even brought them little gloves to try and catch the ball if it came their way. One time, the Phillies beat the Dodgers. It was 6 to 2, I heard. Lots of folks were there, over 47,000. Took almost 3 hours.

They got all kinds of other stats, too. Like 2B, 3B, HR. Now, I think HR is when they hit it real far, outta the park. That’s always excitin’.
- 2B – maybe that’s runnin’ to second base?
- 3B – that’s gotta be third base, then.
- RBI – no idea what that is, but it sounds important.
Seems like every time a fella does somethin’, they write it down. This one time, the Phillies beat the Dodgers 4 to 3. I guess they keep track of all those numbers.
Who Won, Dodgers or Phillies?
I heard the Phillies won more games than the Dodgers. They got 90 wins, and the Dodgers only got 78. That’s a lot of games. The Phillies are going to the playoffs. That’s a big deal, I guess.
Well, that’s all I can tell ya about that game. It was a good one, that’s for sure. Lots of excitement. Them baseball players, they sure put on a show. Dodgers vs Phillies, it’s a real rivalry, I reckon. This year, the World Series starts on a Friday. I don’t know who’s playing, but it’s a big deal.
One time, they say these Phillies led the whole series, ‘cept for the first inning of the first game. That’s somethin’, ain’t it? They had a good pitcher, name of Sanchez, I think they said. Beat a Dodgers pitcher named Kershaw. Heard folks bettin’ on these games, too.
