Well, let me tell ya, these Diamondbacks, they got themselves into the playoffs, ain’t that somethin’?
The Road to the Playoffs
I heard tell they lost a whole mess of games a couple years back, like 110 of ‘em! Can you believe that? That’s more losses than I got chickens, and I got a whole coop full! But these fellas, they didn’t give up, no sir. They kept on playin’, kept on swingin’, and wouldn’t ya know it, they got better. This year, they won 84 games, which ain’t too shabby, I reckon.
Now, I ain’t no fancy baseball expert, but even I know gettin’ into the playoffs ain’t easy. Folks were sayin’ their chances were lookin’ pretty good just a week or so ago, somethin’ like 93 percent. That’s almost a sure thing, like rain in the springtime. But baseball, she’s a funny game, things can change faster than a blink of an eye.
- Lost a lot of games before
- Won 84 games this season
- Playoff chances were high
Underdogs and Upsets
They were callin’ these Diamondbacks underdogs, which I guess means folks didn’t think they had much of a chance. They were playin’ against the Phillies in Philadelphia, and those Phillies, they hadn’t lost a game at home all playoffs. Sounded like a tough row to hoe, if you ask me. But these Diamondbacks, they went in there and they fought hard. They surprised a lot of folks, that’s for sure.
Close Calls and Nail-biters
I remember hearin’ somethin’ about them almost not makin’ it. Seems like they needed some other teams to lose, somethin’ about the Mets and the Braves. It was all kinda complicated, but the long and short of it is, they squeezed in by the skin of their teeth. It was down to the wire, like waitin’ for the last calf to be born in the spring, you just don’t know what’s gonna happen till it happens.
Looking Ahead
Now, I don’t know what’s gonna happen next, but I tell you what, these Diamondbacks, they got grit. They remind me of that old mule I used to have, stubborn as can be, but always got the job done. They might not be the fanciest team, or the richest team, but they got heart, and that counts for a lot in my book.
My Two Cents
So, here’s what I think. Baseball is like life, you know? You win some, you lose some. Sometimes you’re up, sometimes you’re down. But the important thing is to keep on swingin’, keep on fightin’, and never give up. These Diamondbacks, they done just that, and I reckon they got a good chance to go all the way. I’ll be rootin’ for ’em, that’s for sure.
It ain’t over ’til it’s over
And remember, just like my grandma used to say, “It ain’t over ’til the fat lady sings,” or in this case, ’til the last out is made. So, let’s sit back, enjoy the games, and see what these Diamondbacks can do. It’s gonna be excitin’, I betcha.
