That Derek Shelton, I heard he’s making some good money now. I don’t know what he did before. He must be good at something, I guess. He’s the big boss of that Pirates baseball team. Heard on the radio they gave him more money. Smart guy. He’s got a good job.
You know, being a baseball manager, that’s gotta be tough. All those young fellas to look after. Making sure they do their best. Derek Shelton salary, I heard it’s plenty. I heard that he’s got a family. A wife and three kids. Jackson, Kristina, and Gianna. That’s a lot of mouths to feed. They live in a nice place, Treasure Island. Sounds fancy, don’t it?
This year, 2023, I think, they said it was his “contract year.” Now, what in the Sam Hill does that mean? I don’t know much about baseball. But I think he must have done good, ’cause they gave him more time with the team. They signed him up again!

- Now they ain’t saying how much he’s getting, not to us regular folks, anyway.
- He got that new deal on April 23, 2023. That’s what I heard.
The Pirates, they started playing real good this year. Best they’ve done in a long time, maybe 30 years. They said that’s why they gave Derek Shelton more money. He must be doing something right. They extended his contract. I don’t know what that means, but it sounds important. Good for him. I always say, if you work hard, good things will happen.
Derek Shelton salary must be good if he got a new contract. Those baseball folks, they make a lot of money. More than us regular folks, that’s for sure. He’s been the big boss of the Pirates since 2020. That’s a few years now. He must like it there. And they must like him, giving him that new deal and all.
I don’t know how long this new deal is for. They didn’t say. Just said it was a “new deal.” But it sounds like they’re happy with him. And he must be happy with that Derek Shelton salary. A million dollars! Imagine that! What would you do with all that money? I’d probably buy a new rocking chair. And maybe a whole bunch of yarn. I do love to knit.
This Derek Shelton, he seems like a good fella. Taking care of his family. Doing a good job with that baseball team. I hope he keeps doing good. It’s nice to hear about folks doing well. Especially when they work hard for it. That’s the way it should be. You work hard, you get rewarded. That’s what my mama always said. And I reckon she was right.
I don’t know much about baseball, but I do like those Pittsburgh Pirates. They are the team on TV sometimes. I like seeing them win. I think that’s what they are doing now. Winning more. Maybe this Derek Shelton is the reason. They must think so. I heard that they said his new deal shows what they are doing and how they are doing it.
You know, that 14-7 start, I think that’s good. I don’t know baseball numbers, but that sounds like more wins than losses. That’s good, right? More wins is always better. This Derek Shelton salary, it’s probably because of those wins. Good for him. I guess they are doing good with him as their leader.
I hope they keep winning. It’s always nice to see a team do good. And it’s nice to see a man like Derek Shelton get rewarded for his hard work. He seems like a good egg. I hope he and his family are happy in that Treasure Island. Sounds like a dream. I bet they are happy with what Derek Shelton salary is now. He can buy a lot of candy for those kids with that money!
