Today I want to talk about my Derek Jeter rookie Topps card. This thing’s been sitting in my collection for a while, and it’s a pretty cool piece of baseball history.
So, I started digging into this whole thing a few years back. It was in 1993 when I got my hands on this card. I remember it was a big deal back then, you know, everyone was after these rookie cards. It’s the 1993 Topps #98 Derek Jeter. I pulled it straight out of a pack, and I’ve held onto it ever since.
I did a little research, because I was curious, you know. Apparently, this set, the 1993 Topps, it was a big one. They had like 825 cards in it, split into two series. People say it’s the biggest Topps set they ever made.
There’s also this other Derek Jeter card, the 1993 SP Foil #279, which seems to be a pretty big deal. I’ve seen people online talk about it. From what I gather, it’s super rare, and people go nuts for it. They say it’s like the holy grail of 90s baseball cards. I don’t have that one in my collection though.
Anyway, back to my card. I learned that the Gold version of these cards were kind of special. It was before all these different versions of cards came out. I guess that makes my card a little more unique.
The reason I started looking into this is because I heard about how many of these cards are out there. It’s crazy! Tens of thousands. And they all get graded by this company called PSA. They give them a score out of 10. Makes me wonder what mine would get.
Wrapping Up
So that’s the story of my Derek Jeter rookie Topps card. It’s a cool little piece of my collection, and it’s fun to know a bit more about it. Maybe one day I’ll get it graded, just for kicks. It’s not just about the money, you know. It’s about the memories and the fun of collecting.
