Hey everyone, it’s your boy back again with another story from my life. Today, I wanna talk about something a little different – my marriage with Lizzy. Yeah, the title’s “Dave and Lizzy Canales,” and that’s us. We’ve been together for a while now, and let me tell you, it’s been a journey.
So, how did it all start? Well, we met way back in college. We were both young, full of dreams, and just trying to figure life out. We started hanging out, you know, the usual college stuff – studying together, going to parties, and just enjoying each other’s company. We found out we’re both Christians, and that was a big deal for us. We spent a lot of time together. Gradually, that friendship turned into something more. Before we knew it, we were falling in love. Cheesy, I know, but it’s the truth.
After some time, we decided to get married. We didn’t rush into it, though. We took our time, made sure we were right for each other, and then we made that commitment. We decided to have this marriage as a covenant, not just between us but also with God. We got married, and that was just the beginning.
Now, being married isn’t always a walk in the park. We had our ups and downs, like any couple. There were times when we were on top of the world, and there were times when we just wanted to pull our hair out. But through it all, we stuck together. We supported each other, we grew together, and we learned a lot about ourselves and each other. During that time, my career as a football coach also started.
One of the things we did was write a book together. It’s called “This Marriage? The Question That…” and it’s basically about our journey, the questions we asked ourselves, and the answers we found along the way. It was a challenging but also a really rewarding experience.
Fast forward to today, I’m now the head coach of the Carolina Panthers. It’s a big responsibility, but I’m grateful for the opportunity. And you know what? Lizzy’s been with me every step of the way. She’s my rock, my best friend, and my partner in everything. We even won our first game in Week 3 at the Las Vegas Raiders 36-22 on September 22. Lizzy was there cheering for me, as always.
So, that’s our story in a nutshell. It’s not perfect, but it’s ours. And I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.
