Alright, let’s talk about this Dallas Cowboys GM thing. I ain’t no expert, ya know, just a regular person watchin’ the games and hearin’ all the chatter. But even I can see some things ain’t right with them Cowboys.
First off, this Jerry Jones fella, he’s the owner and the, uh, general manager, they call it. Means he’s the big boss, makes all the big decisions. But lordy, sometimes I think he just likes the attention more than the winnin’. He’s been around forever, and some folks say that’s the problem.
Now, they got this other fella, McClay. He’s the one doin’ all the hard work, lookin’ at all them players, figurin’ out who’s good and who ain’t. Sounds like a smart fella, been doin’ it a long time, since 2002 they say. He’s like the scout, ya know, findin’ the good apples in the barrel. But Jerry, he’s the one gotta pick ’em, and sometimes I think he picks the bruised ones.
Then there’s this coach, Mike McCarthy. Folks been yappin’ about him gettin’ fired. Season started off bad, real bad. Lost a bunch of games in a row, five of ’em! Can you believe that? Five games! Even I coulda coached better than that, and I don’t know nothin’ about football, except how to yell at the TV.

He don’t like admittin’ he’s wrong, that’s for sure. He keeps sayin’ he’s considerin’ it, talkin’ on the radio and all, makin’ a big fuss.
But then you hear other folks talkin’, sayin’ McCarthy’s a goner, no matter what Jerry says. They say he’ll be cleanin’ out his office come January. And then what? Then they gotta find a new coach, and that’s a whole ‘nother mess.
They talk about all these fancy coaches, offensive minds they call ‘em. This Johnson fella from the Lions, he’s one of ‘em. Sounds like he knows how to make them boys run and catch and score. But will Jerry pick him? Or will he pick some other fella, maybe someone nobody expects? That’s the thing with Jerry, ya never know what he’s gonna do.
Some folks say the whole team is a mess, that it ain’t just the coach. They say the leadership is bad, from the top all the way down. They need a change, they say. A real change, not just a new coach, but maybe even a new… well, I don’t wanna say it, but maybe Jerry needs to step aside, let someone else run the show.
The Cowboys need a change, that’s for sure. They need someone who knows what they’re doin’, someone who can make the tough decisions, someone who ain’t afraid to admit when they’re wrong. And they need someone who wants to win more than they want to be on TV.
They’re talkin’ ’bout firin’ McCarthy in 2024 or maybe 2025, depending on how things go. And then they gotta find someone to replace him. They’re lookin’ at all kinds of coaches, young ones, old ones, some that have been head coaches before, some that haven’t. It’s a whole lot of speculation, ya know? Nobody really knows what’s gonna happen.
And that Belichick fella, the one from New England? Some folks even mention his name, can you imagine? Him coachin’ the Cowboys? That would be somethin’ else. But I don’t know, Jerry’s a proud man, he might not want someone comin’ in with such a big reputation.
So, what’s the deal with this Dallas Cowboys GM situation? It’s a mess, that’s what it is. Too much Jerry, maybe not enough McClay, and a whole lot of uncertainty about the coach. They need to get their act together, that’s for sure. Otherwise, they’ll just keep losin’, and folks like me will just keep yellin’ at the TV.
They say America’s team needs a fresh look, a winning attitude. They gotta get back to the basics, find a good coach, let him do his job, and maybe, just maybe, Jerry needs to trust the folks he hires to do their jobs, too. But that’s just my opinion, ya know? What do I know? I’m just a regular person watchin’ the games.
Anyways, that’s what I think about this whole Dallas Cowboys GM thing. It’s a whole lotta drama, a whole lotta talk, and not enough winnin’. They need to fix it, and they need to fix it fast.
