Hey everyone, I’m back with another one of my little projects. This time, it’s about the putters used by the pros in 2023. Yeah, I got curious about what the top golfers were using, and well, one thing led to another, and I ended up diving deep into it. So, let me walk you through what I did and what I found out.
First off, I started by just Googling around, trying to get a feel for which putters were popular among the pros. I looked at the PGA Tour, the LIV Golf League, and the DP World Tour. Just wanted to see what the best of the best were using, you know? I mean, who wouldn’t be curious, right?
Then, I made a list of the top golfers from these tours. I used the “Strokes Gained: Putting” stats because, hey, that’s what really matters, right? The numbers don’t lie. I focused on the top 8 golfers because that felt like a good number – not too many, not too few.
After that, it was all about digging into what each of these top golfers had in their bags. I went through articles, forums, and even some interviews to find out the specific putter models they were using in 2023.
Here’s what I found:
- Scotty Cameron was a big name, no surprise there. I saw that Rory McIlroy used a prototype Scotty Cameron Newport 009. Apparently, it’s his own tour-exclusive model, pretty cool, huh? And it turns out Jordan Spieth also uses a 009 putter, a Circle T Model.
- Then there was TaylorMade. Their Spider Tour X model was being used by some big names. That one seems to be a favorite, especially with Rory switching to it.
- Odyssey putters were all over the place too. Found out that 36% of the top 100 PGA Tour pros were using them. Names like Xander Schauffele and Sam Burns were on that list.
- And get this, there’s a brand called L.A.B. Putters. Pros like Lucas Glover, Will Zalatoris, and even Adam Scott were using them. That was a bit of a surprise for me, hadn’t heard much about them before.
So yeah, that’s basically what I did. I started with a simple question and ended up with a whole bunch of information about what putters the pros were using in 2023. It was a fun little project, and I learned a lot along the way. Hope you guys find it as interesting as I did!
