Okay, so I found myself going down a bit of a rabbit hole the other day. The name George Brown came up – can’t even remember where I saw it now, maybe an article or something – and I got curious. You know how it is, one name pops up and you think, wonder what their story is, maybe how well they’ve done for themselves.

So, naturally, the first thing I did was grab my phone and type in ‘George Brown net worth’. Simple enough, right? That’s what I thought.
Well, turns out it wasn’t quite that straightforward. The search results started flooding in, but here’s the kicker: there are a lot of George Browns out there. Seriously. I saw stuff potentially related to the college in Toronto, maybe some historical figures, other individuals entirely. It was a bit confusing trying to figure out which George Brown people were even talking about, or if the numbers flying around were for the same person.
I tried refining my search a bit. Added terms I thought might narrow it down, based on the context I thought I first saw the name in. Still, finding a clear, reliable number felt like chasing smoke. You see these websites, often looking a bit dodgy, throwing out figures. But where do they get them from? It’s rarely clear. One site says one thing, another says something completely different.
It got me thinking…
Why do we get so hung up on these numbers anyway? It’s like this obsession with knowing how much money someone supposedly has. Does it really change anything? Found plenty of guesses, lots of speculation, but very little that felt solid or confirmed.

It reminded me of trying to value old stuff I found in the attic once. Everyone online had an opinion, numbers all over the map. Felt kind of similar here. Unless the person themselves, or a really credible source like Forbes (and even then, sometimes it’s estimates) comes out with it, it often feels like pure guesswork.
So, my little investigation didn’t really end with a satisfying number. Spent a chunk of time clicking around, reading bits and pieces about various George Browns, and mostly just ended up thinking about how weirdly difficult it can be to find straightforward facts online sometimes, especially about people’s finances. It’s just a whole lot of noise out there, you know?
