Alright, guys, so today I wanted to get my fantasy basketball league all set up, and you know the most important part? The team name! Gotta have something cool, funny, or just plain intimidating, right? So, I dove into the wonderful world of fantasy team name brainstorming.

First, I opened up my trusty notepad. Yeah, I’m old school like that. Sometimes you just gotta scribble things down. I started by just jotting down some basic NBA-related words: hoops, net, swish, dunk, court, you get the idea. Just a big ol’ word vomit to get the juices flowing.
Then, I thought about my favorite players. Who do I love watching? Who do I think is gonna have a killer season? I wrote down names like LeBron, Curry, Giannis – the usual suspects. I also included some of my sleeper picks, guys I think are gonna surprise everyone this year. No, I’m not telling you who they are, gotta keep some secrets!
Next, I started messing around, combining the words and player names. This is where it gets fun. You try all sorts of combinations, some silly, some serious. Like, “LeBron’s Leftovers”… nah, too basic. “Curry’s Spicy Shots”? Getting warmer… “Giannis’s Greek Gods”? Okay, that one’s kinda cool.
I also checked out some websites. And I will admit, I got a few good chuckles, and even a couple of ideas. But honestly, most of the fun is coming up with them yourself.
My Top Picks (So Far)
- Victorious Secret
- The Ballfather
- Nothing But Netflix
- Game of Zones
- Sons of Pitches
I ended up spending, like, a good hour on this. Which is probably way too long, but hey, it’s important! It is a little fun to just combine it with players’ names!

I still haven’t made a final decision, though. It’s tough! I think to narrow it down, you gotta think about your league. Is it a super competitive league? Maybe go with something more intimidating. Is it a more casual league with friends? Go for the funny bone.
Anyway, that’s my process. A little bit of brainstorming, a little bit of player love, and a whole lot of wordplay. Good luck with your own fantasy team names, and may the best team (and name) win!
