Okay, so today I wanted to mess around with creating some characters for that new Concord game. I’ve been seeing a lot of buzz about it and the character designs looked pretty cool, so I figured, why not try to make my own?

First, I started by just sketching out some rough ideas. Nothing fancy, just stick figures and basic shapes to get a feel for the proportions and poses. I doodled a few different body types – a bulky, tank-like character, a slender, agile one, and something in between.
Once I had a few basic shapes I liked, I moved on to adding some details. I thought about what kind of role each character might play. Like, is this one a heavy hitter? A support character? A sneaky sniper type? That helped me decide on things like armor, weapons, and overall style.
- For the bulky guy, I gave him thick armor plates and a big, chunky weapon.
- The slender one got lighter gear and a more streamlined look, maybe with some kind of energy blade.
- The in-between character ended up with a mix of armor and tech, kind of a jack-of-all-trades vibe.
Next, I started playing with color schemes. I wanted each character to have a distinct look, something that would make them stand out. I tried a few different combinations – bright, contrasting colors, darker, more muted tones, and even some metallic accents.
Fleshing Things Out
After the initial sketches and color tests, I picked my favorite design and started refining it. I added more detail to the armor, drew in some facial features (even if it was just a visor or helmet), and refined the weapon design.
I also started thinking about the character’s backstory. Where did they come from? What’s their motivation? This isn’t strictly necessary for the design, but it helps me get a better feel for the character and make more informed design choices.

Finally, I did a few different poses to see how the character would look in action. This helped me identify any awkward areas in the design and make sure everything looked good from different angles.
It’s still a work in progress, but I’m pretty happy with how it’s turning out! It was a fun little exercise, and it definitely got my creative juices flowing. Maybe I’ll try to 3D model it sometime, who knows?
