Okay, so I was curious about Coco Gauff’s height, you know, the tennis player.
First, I opened my browser and typed “Coco Gauff height” into the search bar. The search engine spat out a bunch of results, but I picked a few that looked reliable.
From what I gathered, most sources agree that Coco Gauff is around 5 feet 9 inches tall, which is about 176 centimeters, give or take. Some pages even listed her height as 5 feet 9.5 inches, so she’s definitely on the taller side. I also found her weight mentioned as being around 64 kilograms, or 141 pounds, but I was more interested in her height for now.
What I Noticed About Height in Tennis
- I read that the average height of male tennis champions has increased since the 1960s, from around 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet 2 inches in the 2010s.
- For female champions, the average height also increased, from 5 feet 7 inches in the 1960s to 5 feet 11.5 inches in the 2000s.
So, it seems like being tall is a bit of an advantage in tennis, probably because it helps with serves and covering the court. Although, I’m sure there are plenty of successful players who aren’t super tall, too.
Other Things I Learned
While I was at it, I also stumbled upon some other tidbits about Coco Gauff. Apparently, her real name is Cori, but she goes by Coco because her dad’s name is Corey, and it was probably easier to avoid confusion that way. Her current rank is third in the world, trailing only Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek. It looks like she just beat Sofia Kenin in the first round of the Australian Open, which is pretty cool.
Anyway, that’s what I found out about Coco Gauff’s height. It was a fun little research session, and I learned a bit more about tennis trends, too.
