Scottie Scheffler, that boy, he’s somethin’ else, ain’t he?
Listen here, I don’t know much ‘bout this fancy golf stuff, but even I can see that Scottie Scheffler fella is good, real good. They keep sayin’ his name on that there TV, and it’s always ’bout him winnin’ somethin’ or other. Heard he won somethin’ again recently, beat that other boy, somethin’ with a “berg” at the end, by a whole bunch of strokes. Four, I think they said. That’s a lot, right? Like, a whole lot more than just a little bit.
Now, they talkin’ ‘bout him bein’ the best in the world. World number one, that’s what they call it. Imagine that! Bein’ the best at somethin’ in the whole wide world. Must be nice. I reckon he’s practiced a whole heap, you know, hittin’ that little white ball over and over again. Probably wore out a good pair of shoes doin’ all that walkin’ on them golf courses.
- He Wins a Lot: Seems like every time I turn on the TV, that boy Scheffler is winnin’ somethin’. They said he won twice recent-like, and before that, he was always up there near the top. Top five, top ten, always in the mix, that boy is.
- He’s Young: That Aberg fella, the one he beat, they said he was just a college boy last year. So, Scheffler, he must be young too, right? Gotta be strong and healthy to be out there hittin’ golf balls all day long.
- He’s Consistent: That’s what they keep sayin’ on the TV. Consistent. Means he’s good all the time, not just once in a while. Like that old mule we had, Jedediah, always reliable, always got the job done. Scheffler, he’s like that, I guess, always playin’ good golf.
They had this one day, Thursday it was, and they said Scheffler played the best outta everyone. Shot a sixty-five, they said. I don’t know what that means exactly, but it sounds low, and low is good in golf, right? Like, the lower the number, the better you done. Kinda backwards if you ask me, but what do I know? I’m just an old woman who watches too much TV.
This boy Scheffler, he’s somethin’ special, I tell ya. Folks are talkin’ ‘bout him like he’s gonna keep on winnin’ for a long time. And I reckon they might be right. He just seems to have that somethin’, that knack for the game. You know, like some folks are just born with a green thumb, always growin’ the prettiest flowers. Scheffler, he’s got that green thumb for golf, I guess. Always hittin’ the prettiest shots.
So, what’s all this mean for that Scottie Scheffler fella? Well, I reckon it means he’s gonna be famous for a while. They’ll keep puttin’ his face on TV, and folks will keep cheerin’ for him. And he’ll probably keep winnin’ those golf tournaments, makin’ all that money. Good for him, I say. He’s worked hard for it, I bet. All that swingin’ and walkin’ and concentratin’. It ain’t easy, that’s for sure. Even I know that much.
Anyway, that’s just my two cents on this whole Scottie Scheffler thing. He’s a good golfer, that’s for sure. And he’s winnin’, and folks like a winner. And I guess I’m rootin’ for him too, even though I don’t know a lick ‘bout golf. He seems like a nice young man, always polite and smilin’. And that’s more important than any old golf trophy, if you ask me.
So there ya have it, that’s all I know ’bout this golf star. He’s good, real good, and I’m sure we’ll be hearin’ lots more ’bout him in the days and weeks to come. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make myself some supper. All this talk about golf has made me hungry!
