Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this Bullet Club logo thing. You know, the wrestling group? Yeah, that one. I first heard about them back in, like, 2013 when they started up in New Japan Pro-Wrestling. It was Prince Devitt, Karl Anderson, Bad Luck Fale, and Tama Tonga who kicked it all off. I remember thinking, “These guys are cool,” but it was their logo that really caught my eye. That skull and crossbones with the guns, it just looked badass.
So, I started digging around. I wanted to see if there was any info about the design, who made it, what it meant, all that jazz. Turns out, there wasn’t a whole lot out there. I did find out that there was some talk in 2018 about Cody Rhodes maybe changing the logo. He was trying to take over the group from Kenny Omega, you know, all that drama. But then The Bucks made a statement via Pro Wrestling Tees that they weren’t going to change the logo. Good call, I thought. It’s iconic, why mess with it?
I spent a few hours trying to recreate the logo myself. I’m no graphic designer, mind you, but I wanted to give it a shot. First, I grabbed a bunch of images of the logo from different sources. Some were from t-shirts, others from posters, all that stuff. Then, I started trying to draw it out, just with a pen and paper, old school. It was rough, to say the least. Getting the skull just right was a pain, and don’t even get me started on the guns. I tried a few different versions, but none of them really looked right.
Next, I figured I’d try doing it digitally. I don’t have any fancy design software, so I just used some free online tools. It was a bit better than my hand-drawn attempts, but still not great. I played around with different shapes and colors, trying to get the right look. It was kind of fun, actually, but also frustrating. I probably spent a good couple of days on this, on and off. I even tried looking up some tutorials on how to draw skulls and guns, but they weren’t much help.
Here are the steps I tried:
- Gathering References: First, I collected a bunch of images of the Bullet Club logo. I looked at their t-shirts, posters, and anything else I could find online to get a good sense of the design.
- Sketching by Hand: I started by trying to draw the logo by hand. I used a pen and paper and tried to copy the skull and crossbones with the guns. This was pretty tough, and my sketches didn’t look very good.
- Going Digital: I then moved to using some free online tools to try and create the logo digitally. This was a bit easier than sketching by hand, but it still took a lot of time and effort.
- Experimenting with Shapes and Colors: I experimented with different shapes and colors to try and get the right look. I tried different variations of the skull and guns, but it was hard to get everything to look just right.
- Looking Up Tutorials: I even tried looking up tutorials on how to draw skulls and guns to get some tips. These weren’t very helpful for what I was trying to do, but it was worth a shot.
In the end, I didn’t manage to create a perfect replica of the Bullet Club logo. But you know what? I learned a lot. I learned that graphic design is harder than it looks. I learned that it takes a lot of patience and practice to get good at something. And I learned that sometimes, it’s okay to just appreciate something for what it is, even if you can’t recreate it yourself. Plus I got a cool story to tell all of you, and some practice in.
