Alright, listen up, y’all. We gotta figure out this football stuff, this… uh… Devon Achane and Austin Ekeler, who’s better? Sounds like a bunch of city folks talkin’, but I’ll try to make sense of it for ya.
So, they say this Achane fella, he’s some kinda rookie, a young whippersnapper. But they’re makin’ a big fuss, sayin’ he’s the best rookie runner in a long, long time. Best rookie, mind you! They got all these fancy numbers, talkin’ ’bout “fantasy points” and “expected points.” Sounds like hogwash to me, but they say he’s gettin’ way more points than they thought he would. Like, a whole lot more.
- They say he got 6.7 somethin’-somethin’ points over what they figured.
- And only a few other young’uns since way back when did that good.
Now, this Ekeler fella, he’s been around the block. He ain’t no spring chicken. They paid him a good chunk of change a while back, somethin’ like a million and six bits over three years. That’s a lot of hay, even for city folk.
But here’s the thing, they’re sayin’ Ekeler, he ain’t gonna be as good as he was last year. He scored a whole mess of touchdowns last year, but they reckon he won’t do that again. Maybe half, they say. Half the touchdowns! That don’t sound too good, does it?
Folks are scratchin’ their heads, tryin’ to decide who to put on their “fantasy football” team. I still don’t rightly understand what that is, but it sounds important to some folks. They got all these experts, hundreds of ’em, givin’ advice, tellin’ you who to start, who to sit. They look at all sorts of things, rankin’s and “projections,” whatever those are.
They even compare these two fellas side-by-side. Lookin’ at their “stats,” that’s probably like how many times they run with the ball and how far they get. They got computers and charts and all sorts of things to help ’em decide. It’s a whole lot of fuss, I tell ya.
So, who’s better? Achane or Ekeler? Well, the young fella, Achane, he’s doin’ real good, better than anyone expected. He’s like a young bull in a china shop, runnin’ wild and gettin’ all those points. But Ekeler, he’s been around, he knows the game. He’s got the experience, but maybe he’s gettin’ old, slowin’ down a bit.
It all comes down to what you need. You want someone young and excitin’, who might just surprise ya? Then maybe Achane’s your man. You want someone steady, someone you can rely on, even if he ain’t as flashy as he used to be? Then maybe Ekeler’s the way to go. It’s like pickin’ between a young rooster and an old hen, I guess. Both got their good points, just depends on what you’re lookin’ for.
They sayin’ this week, week 14, it’s a tough choice. Folks all over are askin’ who to start. They got these “PPR” somethin’ somethin’, more fancy numbers and rules. Makes my head spin, it does. But them experts, they’re linin’ up, givin’ their two cents. Some say Achane, some say Ekeler. It’s a real head-scratcher, for sure.
And they’re talkin’ about other fellas too, this Abdullah fella. But he don’t seem as important as Achane and Ekeler. They’re the main attraction, the big show. So, there you have it. That’s the lowdown on these two football players, as best as I can figure it. It ain’t rocket science, but it ain’t easy neither. Just gotta use your common sense, and maybe a little bit of luck.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go feed the chickens.
