Alright, let’s talk about this fella, Brandon Spikes. You know, the football player? Yeah, that one. Heard a bunch of stuff about him, so I figured I’d tell ya what I know, the way I understand it, you know, plain and simple.
First things first, the fella played ball, and he played it good. He got drafted by them New England Patriots back in 2010. Second round, they say. Made a big splash right off the bat, they tell me. Rookie season, he was somethin’ else. Then he went off to play for the Buffalo Bills for a spell, and then back to the Patriots again. Seems like he bounced around a bit, like a ball in a dryer.
Now, this boy, he wasn’t always just about football. Heard tell he had a tough upbringing. His brother, Breyon Middlebrooks, raised him while their mama, Sherry Allen, worked her fingers to the bone at some plant. Twelve-hour days, can you believe it? Poor woman. And then, the brother, well, he got himself into trouble. Murder, they say. Life in prison. Lord have mercy. That must’ve been hard on young Brandon.

This boy, he made some money playing football, though. Not a king’s ransom, but enough to keep the wolf from the door. Millions, they say. But money ain’t everything, that’s for sure. Hit by a bus at the airport, can you imagine? Poor fella. And then somethin’ about leavin’ the scene of an accident, got himself in trouble with the law. Seems like he had his share of ups and downs, just like the rest of us, I reckon.
Now, they say he’s coachin’ now. Back at his old college, University of Florida, helpin’ out the young’uns. That’s nice. Seems like he’s turnin’ things around, tryin’ to do right. Good for him, I say. Everyone deserves a second chance.
And that thing about his cousin? Takeo Spikes? Also played football, they say. Imagine that, two fellas in the same family playin’ in the big leagues. Small world, ain’t it?
So, that’s the story of Brandon Spikes, as far as I can tell. A football player, a fella who had some hard times, and now he’s tryin’ to make somethin’ of himself. Just like all of us, tryin’ to get by, you know? He ain’t perfect, nobody is. But he’s still here, still tryin’. And that’s all that matters, I reckon.
