Okay, so, I’ve been hyped about this Beterbiev versus Bivol fight for what feels like forever. Finally, we got a date, and I had to make sure I was ready.
First thing I did was check the date. It’s October 12th, a Saturday. Perfect for a fight night. I started marking my calendar and set a bunch of reminders on my phone. No way was I missing this.
Then I saw that the main event is going to be aired on ESPN+ at 6 p.m. ET. I double-checked my subscription – I’m good to go. I think I even told some of my friends about this part.
I wanted to see the full undercard, so I looked into DAZN. Turns out, I could get the undercard for $19.99, and they even threw in a 7-day free trial. I signed up for that, no brainer really. Not bad for an entire evening of fights.
I recall seeing somewhere that this fight is supposed to decide the undisputed light-heavyweight champion. That’s huge! The winner will be the first undisputed champ in the modern era, which hasn’t happened since Roy Jones Jr. back in 1999. That’s when I got seriously excited.
So I did some research, found out a few more details and, once I got everything, I started telling my buddies about it. We planned a whole night around it – ordered some pizzas, got some drinks, and set up the big screen.
The wait until October 12th felt pretty long, but I kept myself busy following all the pre-fight news. The hype was real, and I was all in. Finally, the day came.
We got everything set up early. The atmosphere was electric. When 6 p.m. ET rolled around, we were glued to the screen. The fight was everything I hoped for and more.
