Okay, so I’ve been messing around with some baseball data, specifically looking at Shohei Ohtani and Logan Webb. I wanted to see how they stack up against each other, you know, just for fun. It turned into a bit of a rabbit hole, but here’s what I did.

Getting Started
First, I needed the data. Figuring out where to get reliable stats was the first hurdle. I ended up digging around and found some good sources. No links, sorry I am not allowed to share it!
Wrangling the Data
Once I grabbed the data, it was a mess. Seriously, it was all over the place. Different formats, different stats, ugh. So, I spent a good chunk of time just cleaning things up. This involved:
- Filtering out irrelevant stuff.
- Making sure the dates matched up.
- Converting everything into a consistent format.
It wasn’t glamorous, but it had to be done. It took for a while, believe me!
The Comparison
Finally, with the data all clean and pretty, I could actually start comparing Ohtani and Webb. I looked at things like:
- Basic Stuff: ERA, batting average, home runs, strikeouts – the usual suspects.
- Head to Head: When playing and facing each other.
Putting It All Together
In the end I successfully analyzed the data.

That’s the gist of it! It was a fun little project, and I learned a lot along the way. Maybe I’ll do another one of these soon.
