Okay, so yesterday I was messing around in League, trying to climb a bit, right? And I kept running into these Malphite players, and man, they were just wrecking me. So, I was like, “Alright, time to figure out how to actually counter this rock dude.”
First thing I did was jump onto YouTube. Started watching some videos, ya know, seeing what the pros do. I saw a bunch of stuff about picking champions that can poke him down early, before he gets too tanky.
So, here’s what I actually tried:
- Teemo: Figured I could just blind him and shroom up the lane. Didn’t work as well as I thought. He just farmed under tower and waited for ganks. Plus, his ult just wiped out all my shrooms. Big fail.
- Kayle: Read somewhere that she scales well and can outrange him later. That’s true, but I fed him like crazy early game. Couldn’t handle the early pressure. Another L.
- Gnar: This one was a bit better. I could poke him with my Q and then hop away when he tried to engage. The key was managing my rage bar and knowing when to go Mega Gnar for the all-in.
The Gnar game was where I actually started seeing some success. I focused on farming safely and poking him whenever he went for CS. I also made sure to ward properly so I wouldn’t get ganked. It was all about playing smart and not getting greedy.
Then, I realized something else: items matter a TON. If you’re playing an AD champ, you gotta build armor penetration. Black Cleaver or Lord Dominik’s Regards are essential. And if you’re playing an AP champ, Magic Penetration is your friend. Void Staff is a must.
Another thing that helped was paying attention to Malphite’s mana bar. He’s pretty reliant on his abilities, so if you can bait them out, he’s basically a sitting duck for a bit. Especially his Seismic Shard (Q) – dodging that slows him down a lot.
Finally, and this is key, TEAMWORK. Malphite is a teamfight monster. So if you can coordinate with your team to focus him down or CC him during fights, it makes a huge difference. Don’t let him get a free ultimate off on your carries!
So, yeah, countering Malphite isn’t just about picking the “right” champion. It’s about smart play, good itemization, and working with your team. I still struggle against him sometimes, but at least now I have a better idea of what to do. Maybe next time I won’t get completely stomped.
