Alright, so I wanted to mess around with some Destiny 2 codes, specifically looking at those “mutations” folks talk about. I’d seen some chatter online, and figured, why not give it a shot myself? Here’s how it went down.
Digging Around
First thing I did was hit up the usual spots – forums, some Destiny 2 fan wikis, that kind of thing. I was looking for any info on existing codes, how people were finding them, and if there were any tools to help with the process. It’s kinda like being a digital treasure hunter, you know?
I found a few old posts talking about specific emblems and shaders tied to these codes, but nothing super concrete on how to actually create or modify them. It seemed like a lot of guesswork and trial-and-error was involved. Still useful to use these codes for free stuff though!
Experiment Time!
Armed with a handful of codes I’d found online, I fired up the game. I started by just entering them in the code redemption section, just to see what would happen. Some worked, some didn’t – no big surprise there, a lot of these codes are time-limited or one-time use.
I found a few patterns in the structure of them. I had the patterns so now time to get tinkering.
Getting My Hands Dirty
I used the code redemption page in destiny to try some of the patterns with various different combonations
- Tried changing a few characters:I took a code I knew worked, and I started swapping out letters and numbers, one by one. Most of the time, this just resulted in an “invalid code” message, but I was hoping to stumble on something new.
- Looked for patterns: I kept a notepad open and started jotting down any patterns I noticed. Were there certain character combinations that seemed to appear more often? Did certain numbers seem significant? It was like trying to crack a cipher, but with zero training, haha.
- Tried and tried again:I used various combonations of letters and numbers to see the outcome, most were invaild but it was super fun to try different combonations.
The (Not-So-Grand) Finale
Honestly? I didn’t crack the code. I didn’t discover some secret, game-breaking mutation. Most of my attempts ended in failure, which, to be fair, is what I expected.
But, it was still a fun little experiment! It gave me a better appreciation for the folks who do manage to find these codes and share them with the community. It’s a lot of work, and a lot of luck. I may continue this quest for codes when I have some more free time again.
