Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this Wildheart Barbarian build in Baldur’s Gate 3, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. I wanted to share my experience with the “Bestial Heart” feature, ’cause it’s seriously cool.
First off, I started by creating my Barbarian. I went with the Wildheart subclass ’cause it sounded the most fun. Then, I picked the Bear Heart. Why? Well, it says it gives you resistance to all damage except psychic. Plus, it doubles your carrying capacity. That sounded pretty awesome to me, so I locked it in.
Getting into the game, I immediately started testing this out. I ran my Barbarian headfirst into a bunch of fights. Goblins, gnolls, even those weird intellect devourers – I fought them all. And you know what? That Bear Heart is no joke. I was taking way less damage than I expected. It felt like I was a walking tank, just shrugging off hits left and right. I made some fights to challenge myself.
- I charged into a group of enemies without any backup, just to see how much punishment I could take.
- I even let enemies surround me, just to test the limits of that damage resistance.
- I was using a variety of weapons. Sometimes I use a big two-handed axe, and other times I go for a sword and shield combo.
But then I thought, “What about the other hearts?” There’s one that stood out called the Eagle heart. It is all about mobility, which sounded fun. It has this “Diving Strike” thing that scales with your jump distance. So, I swapped over to that one.
With the Eagle Heart, it was like a whole new game. I was jumping all over the place. I could leap across huge gaps and land right in the middle of a group of enemies, then use Diving Strike to slam down on them. It felt so satisfying. I discovered I could stack crates or boxes to get even higher jumps, which made Diving Strike even more powerful.
I was jumping from rooftops, diving down onto unsuspecting enemies, and just generally causing chaos. It was a blast. And that extra mobility? It’s a game-changer. I could reach places I couldn’t before, flank enemies, and just be a general menace on the battlefield.
My Conclusion
After all this experimenting, I’ve decided that both the Bear and Eagle Hearts are amazing, but they offer completely different playstyles. If you want to be a tough, unkillable tank, go with the Bear. But if you want to be a high-flying, acrobatic warrior, the Eagle is the way to go. It’s been a ton of fun trying out these different “Bestial Hearts”, and I can’t wait to see what other crazy stuff I can do with this Wildheart Barbarian build.
