Well, let me tell you about this here durability thing in that baseball game, MLB The Show 23. It’s a head-scratcher, ain’t it? You see these young fellas, all strong and such, but then they got this durability number. What’s that all about?
So, this durability, it’s like how tough these players are, I reckon. You’d think a big, strong fella could play every day, right? But nope, this number, it tells you if they gonna get tired or hurt easy. Low number, they gonna be sittin’ on that bench a lot. High number, they can play more, I guess.
Now, in this game, you got these things called Captain. I don’t know much about it. Sounds like a big wig to me. But they say these Captain fellas help the team. Make them play better, hit more dingers, you know. They say them Captains do something about durability. Like maybe if you have the right captain, your team won’t be as tired. Or maybe your players will be tougher. I don’t really know.
- This game, it’s got these “Quirks”. They make the players better, somehow. Like, they get better at hittin’ or throwin’ or somethin’.
- These Quirks, they only work sometimes. Depends on what’s happenin’ in the game. It’s all mighty confusin’, if you ask me.
- They say these Quirks add up. The more you got, the better, I guess. Like puttin’ more sugar in your tea.
I seen folks talkin’ about how hard it is to make this durability number go up. They say it takes forever. You gotta train these boys, and train ’em, and train ’em. And even then, it only goes up a little bit. Makes you wonder if it’s worth all the fuss, you know?
They got this mode, “Road to the Show” or somethin’ like that. Sounds fancy, don’t it? They got a draft, and you gotta show off your skills. Lots of games to play. I don’t know about all that, it seems like a lot of work. I prefer my simple life, thank you very much. They say that game is MLB The Show 24 now. The new one, I reckon.
Now, I heard some folks sayin’ they never seen a player get hurt, no matter how low this durability number is. So they wonderin’ if it even matters. Maybe it’s just there for show, like them fancy decorations on a cake that you don’t even eat.
I reckon durability in MLB The Show 23 ain’t that important then. These players just play and play, don’t they? Never get tired or hurt. They’re like machines, I tell ya.

They got a list of players with the best durability, somewhere in that game. You can see who the toughest fellas are. Top 100, they call it. Like it’s some kind of contest. I guess it is, in a way. Everyone wants to be the best, don’t they?
Some folks say these Captains are new this year. That they’re somethin’ special. They help you build your team, make it stronger. These captain got special ability. I don’t know. Seems complicated to me. But the young folks, they seem to like it.
They say these captain cards were big addition to MLB The Show 23. Like they’re somethin’ really important. They tell you how they work and which one to pick. I reckon I should ask my grandson about it. He knows all about these things.
Well, I gotta give thanks to them developers. They work hard makin’ these games, I reckon. Even if I don’t understand all of it, they put a lot of effort into it, you can tell.
You know, all this talk about durability and Captains, it makes me think about back in the day. We didn’t have none of these fancy video games. We played outside, in the dirt. We got tired, sure, but we kept playin’. We didn’t need no numbers to tell us how tough we were. We just knew.
Maybe these young folks today, they rely too much on these numbers. Maybe they should just go out there and play, and not worry so much about this durability thing. Just have fun, you know? That’s what it’s all about, ain’t it? Havin’ fun.
Anyway, that’s all I got to say about this durability and Captain MLB The Show 23. It’s a lot to think about, ain’t it? Maybe too much for an old lady like me. I think I’ll just go have a cup of tea and watch the birds. That’s my kind of game.
