Okay, so I finally got around to messing with Baldur’s Gate 3 again. This time, I wanted to try something different than my usual human paladin. I decided to roll a Githyanki. Why? Because they’re cool, edgy, and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about with their unique dialogue options.

First, I spent a solid hour just staring at the character creation screen. Seriously, the options are overwhelming! But I knew I wanted to make a warrior, something that could smash faces. So, I started with the Githyanki race, duh. Then I agonized over the class choice. Fighter? Barbarian? Paladin again? Nah, went with Fighter for that sweet Action Surge. Felt right for a Gith who’s all about getting things done. Plus, I wanted to see how it plays different than my usual Pally.
Next came the stats. I pumped Strength and Constitution, because hitting hard and not dying are kind of important. A little bit into Dexterity for armor class and then dumped everything else. Charisma? Who needs charisma when you have a sword? Intellegence? Nah, Gith don’t need to be smart, just strong!
After that, I jumped into the game. The Githyanki starting area is pretty brutal. Those mind flayers are no joke. I immediately started looking for better gear. Looted everything not nailed down! Combat was actually pretty fun. Action Surge let me burst down enemies really quick. I quickly realized that being a Githyanki opens up some unique dialogue options. I was able to intimidate people way easier, which was hilarious. I even got to boss around some Tieflings, felt good.
Leveled up pretty quick, went with the Battle Master subclass. More combat maneuvers? Yes, please! I mean, more ways to smash things into tiny pieces. The Trip Attack is clutch! So, here’s what happened. I explored around and bumped into Lae’zel which was interesting. Her being Gith made a big difference in the story. It gives so much more story to play around with. Honestly, her reactions to me being a Gith were awesome.
By the end of my session, I was having a blast. The Githyanki Fighter build is definitely a solid choice for anyone looking to play a powerful, aggressive character. I spent hours messing around with the build and different subclasses and have come to the conclusion that it’s better than most builds and feels more impactful in terms of dialog and play-style. Now I am planning on a multi-class with Rogue and see where that takes me! It’s been an absolute blast!
