Okay, so I’ve been trying to chill out more, and someone suggested “calm painting” in Animal Crossing. I was like, “Huh?” But I gave it a shot, and it’s kinda cool. Here’s how it went down:
First, I booted up my Switch and loaded Animal Crossing. Of course, my island’s a bit of a mess – I’m not exactly a pro landscaper, you know? – but I found a somewhat clear spot near the beach.
Then, I whipped out my easel. If you don’t have one, you can grab it at Nook’s Cranny, sometimes they have. Set that bad boy down wherever it feels right.
Getting Started with Colors
Next up, the canvas. I interacted with the easel, and it gave me a blank canvas. Time to get creative, I guess.
- Choosing colors: This part’s pretty straightforward. The game gives you a palette, and you just, like, pick what you want. I went for some blues and greens ’cause I was going for an ocean vibe.
- Actually painting: Okay, this is where it got a little tricky. You use the joystick to move the cursor, and it’s not exactly super precise. I felt like a toddler with a crayon at first. Just kinda smudging colors around.
Embrace Imperfection!
It’s really important to don’t get hung up on making it perfect. Seriously, that’s the whole point. It’s about relaxing, not stressing over making a masterpiece. My “ocean” looked more like a blob, but hey, it was my blob.
I spent a good 20 minutes just messing around with colors and shapes. No real plan, just letting my hand do whatever. I even tried to draw a little fish, but it ended up looking more like a potato with fins. I laughed, and kept going.

The “Calm” Part
Honestly, after a while, I kinda got into it. The music in Animal Crossing is already pretty chill, and just focusing on the colors and the simple act of painting… it was surprisingly relaxing. I totally forgot about my messy island and all the stuff I was supposed to be doing in the game (and in real life!).
When I was done, I stepped back (virtually, of course) and looked at my creation. It wasn’t going to win any awards, but it was… peaceful. I actually felt calmer. I decided to display it on my island, right there on the beach. A little reminder to chill out every now and then.
So yeah, that’s my “calm painting” in Animal Crossing experience. Give it a shot! You might surprise yourself.
