Okay, so, yesterday was kinda awesome. I got to tag along on a recruiting visit with the Alabama football team. Yeah, the Alabama Crimson Tide. Crazy, right?

It all started with a buddy of mine who works in the athletic department. He knows I’m a huge football fan and he managed to snag me an invite. I practically tripped over myself saying yes. Woke up super early, like 5 AM early, to get ready. Definitely needed a strong coffee.
First thing we did was meet up at the football facility. It’s HUGE. Seriously, bigger than any building I’ve ever been in. We went through the check-in process and got some visitor badges. Felt pretty official, I gotta say.
Then, the recruits and their families started arriving. You could feel the excitement in the air. Lots of handshakes, smiles, and nervous energy. We got a quick overview of the day’s schedule – campus tour, meetings with coaches, lunch with the team, and then some individual position meetings.
The campus tour was pretty cool. Alabama has a beautiful campus. Walked past all the historic buildings and saw the student union. I tried to act cool, like I wasn’t totally geeking out over the whole thing.
Next up was the meetings with the coaches. We sat in on a couple of position group meetings. It was interesting to see how the coaches broke down film and explained their game plan. These coaches are intense and passionate, man. They really know their stuff. Learned a ton about football strategy just listening in.

Lunch was a highlight, obviously. Got to eat in the players’ dining hall. The food was actually really good! Met some of the players – they were all super nice and down-to-earth. It was cool chatting with them about their experiences on the team.
After lunch, there were the individual meetings with the coaches and recruits. I mostly hung back during these, just observing. It was fascinating watching the coaches connect with the recruits and their families. They were selling the program and the university, hard.
The whole day wrapped up around 5 PM. I was exhausted, but totally energized at the same time. What a day!
Key Takeaways:
- The facilities at Alabama are top-notch. They spare no expense.
- The coaches are incredibly dedicated and knowledgeable.
- The players are all-in on the program. They’re a brotherhood.
Honestly, it was an eye-opening experience. Gave me a whole new level of respect for college football and the dedication it takes to compete at that level. Super grateful for the opportunity to have been a fly on the wall. Roll Tide!
