Alright, lemme tell you about this “lakers t” thing I messed around with. It was kinda fun, kinda frustrating, but hey, that’s how you learn, right?

So, it all started when I saw this cool Lakers t-shirt design online. I thought, “Hey, I could totally make something like that myself!” Famous last words, haha.
First thing I did was grab a plain yellow t-shirt. Figured yellow was the obvious choice for the Lakers vibe. Then I started sketching out the design I wanted. I went with a classic look – the Lakers logo, maybe some text, nothing too crazy.
Next up was getting the materials. I hit up my local craft store and picked up some fabric paint in purple and gold, of course. Also grabbed some stencils ’cause my freehand skills are… questionable. And a sponge brush, ’cause I thought that would give it a cool texture.
Here’s where things got a little tricky. I started by taping the stencils onto the t-shirt, making sure they were nice and secure. Then I dipped the sponge brush into the purple paint and started dabbing it onto the stencil. Seemed easy enough, right?
Well, the paint started bleeding under the stencil! Ugh. I tried to wipe it off quickly, but it was already smudged. Major setback! I almost gave up right there, but I figured I’d come this far, might as well try to salvage it.

I let the purple paint dry completely, which took forever. Then I carefully cleaned up the edges with a small brush and some white fabric paint. It wasn’t perfect, but it looked a lot better than before.
After that, I added the gold details. This time, I was extra careful with the stencils and used a much lighter touch with the sponge brush. It worked out way better! The gold really popped against the purple and yellow.
Finally, I let the whole thing dry overnight. The next day, I ironed the t-shirt to set the paint. And you know what? It actually looked pretty decent! Not exactly professional quality, but definitely wearable. Plus, it’s got that handmade charm, you know?
Lessons learned:
- Don’t trust cheap stencils.
- Less is more with fabric paint.
- Patience is key!
Would I do it again? Probably! It was a fun little project, and now I’ve got a unique Lakers t-shirt that no one else has. Plus, I learned a few things along the way. Not bad for a weekend afternoon, right?
