Alright, so I wanted to make a raw card for tonight, and I gotta say, it wasn’t as smooth as I hoped. First off, I gathered all the stuff I needed: some fresh veggies, a few different types of meat, and some sauces to go with it all. I figured I’d start by prepping the veggies, you know, washing and chopping them up. I grabbed a cutting board and a knife and got to work.
I started with some lettuce, washing it thoroughly under cold water. Then I moved on to the tomatoes, slicing them into nice, even pieces. Next up were the cucumbers, which I peeled and diced. I also chopped up some onions, trying not to tear up too much in the process. It was a bit of a mess, to be honest, with bits of veggies flying everywhere.
Getting to the Meat
After the veggies were all prepped, I tackled the meat. I had some chicken, beef, and a bit of pork. I decided to marinate the chicken first, so I mixed up a quick marinade with some soy sauce, garlic, and a bit of honey. I put the chicken in a bowl, poured the marinade over it, and mixed it all up to make sure it was evenly coated. I set that aside to let it soak up all that flavor.
Next, I worked on the beef. I just seasoned it with some salt and pepper, nothing too fancy. For the pork, I decided to use a dry rub I had on hand, which had a nice smoky flavor. I rubbed it all over the pork pieces, making sure to get it into every nook and cranny.
Putting It All Together
With the meat and veggies prepped, it was time to assemble the raw card. I laid out a big platter and started arranging everything on it. I put the lettuce down as a base, then added the tomatoes, cucumbers, and onions on top. I placed the marinated chicken, seasoned beef, and rubbed pork around the veggies, trying to make it look somewhat presentable.
Finally, I added some dipping sauces on the side. I had some spicy mayo, a bit of mustard, and a homemade garlic sauce that I whipped up. I put them in small bowls and placed them around the platter.
- Washed and chopped the lettuce
- Sliced the tomatoes
- Peeled and diced the cucumbers
- Chopped the onions
- Marinated the chicken
- Seasoned the beef
- Rubbed the pork
- Arranged everything on a platter
- Added dipping sauces
It took a bit longer than I expected, and it definitely wasn’t the prettiest thing I’ve ever made, but it was all there. A raw card, ready to go. Not bad for a night’s work, I guess.
