Okay, so, I was just chilling on the couch today, flipping through channels, and I landed on some sports show talking about the Super Bowl. It got me thinking, “How many times has Mike Tomlin actually won the Super Bowl?” I mean, the guy’s been with the Steelers forever, right?
So, I grabbed my phone and started digging. First, I just typed “Mike Tomlin” into the search bar. The search engine, you know, filled in the rest with “Super Bowl wins.” Gotta love how it knows what you’re looking for, right?
The first thing I saw was a snippet saying he was hired as the Steelers head coach in 2007. And, apparently, he was the defensive coordinator for the Vikings before that. That’s cool, but it didn’t answer my question.
Then, I started scrolling through a bunch of results about different coaches and their Super Bowl appearances. I saw Andy Reid’s name pop up a lot – that guy’s been killing it with the Chiefs lately. But still, nothing specific about Tomlin’s wins.
I stumbled upon a list of all the Steelers’ head coaches, all the way back to 1933! Some guy named Forrest Douds was the first one. Can you imagine coaching back then? It must’ve been a whole different ball game. Anyway, I scanned through the list until I finally hit 2007 and saw Mike Tomlin’s name.
Finally, I found it. It said something about the Steelers winning their sixth Super Bowl in, get this, Super Bowl XLIII. And guess when that was? 2008! So, Tomlin won it in his second year as head coach. I remember watching that game too! It was a nail-biter against the Cardinals.
- Mike Tomlin became the Steelers head coach in 2007.
- He won Super Bowl XLIII in 2008.
- That was the Steelers’ sixth Super Bowl win overall.
Here’s a quick recap of what I found:
So, there you have it. Mike Tomlin has one Super Bowl win under his belt. He’s been close a couple of other times, but hasn’t been able to clinch another one since 2008. Still, one Super Bowl win is a huge accomplishment. It’s crazy to think how much time I spent just to find that out, but hey, that’s the internet for you. You start with one question and end up down a rabbit hole of sports history.
It was a fun little research project, anyway. Makes me appreciate the Super Bowl even more. It’s not just a game, it’s a whole piece of history. Maybe I’ll do another deep dive on some other sports trivia tomorrow. Or maybe I’ll just watch some more TV. We’ll see.
