Alright, so I’ve been playing a bunch of Sea of Thieves lately, and let me tell you, naming your ship is a bigger deal than I thought. I mean, you’re gonna be sailing the seas, battling other pirates, and hunting for treasure, all under one banner – your ship’s name. So, it’s gotta be good, right?
First off, I started by just messing around, you know, trying out names that popped into my head. I went through a whole list. Some were pretty serious, like “The Phantom’s Revenge”. I felt a bit badass, but then I thought, nah, I’m not that serious of a player. Then I went the funny route. I thought of names like “Ship Happens” or “Unsinkable II”. I even had one like “The Soggy Bottom.”

But here’s the thing, I got stuck. I couldn’t decide. It’s like, how do you pick a name that’s both cool and funny, but also, like, not too try-hard? I talked to my buddies who play too, and they had some good ones. One of them named his ship “The Kracken’s Snack” which I thought was hilarious. Another went with “The Sea Serpent’s Tail”, which is pretty cool. It got me thinking, maybe I should just pick a theme and go with it. I started thinking about all the stuff I like doing in the game – like hunting for treasure. That led me to “The Golden Loot” or “The Treasure Seeker.”
Then I got distracted by this one idea. I remember the “Black Pearl” from Pirates of the Caribbean. I started thinking of names based on movies. I came up with “The Flying Dutchman’s Curse”.

After all that, you know what I ended up with? “The Tipsy Mermaid.” It’s kinda funny, kinda cool, and it fits my play style. I’m not the best player, but I have a lot of fun, and I figured the name should reflect that. I realized, it’s not just about having a cool name, it’s about having a name that you feel good about, one that makes you smile when you see it on your ship.
So yeah, that’s my story about naming my ship in Sea of Thieves. It was way more of a journey than I expected, but hey, it’s all part of the fun, right?
