Okay, so I’ve been digging into this whole who owns the Texas Rangers thing, and let me tell you, it’s been a bit of a rabbit hole. I started out just kind of curious, you know, a casual fan wanting to know more about the team I cheer for. I went into this thinking it’d be a quick search, but man, was I in for a ride.
First things first, I hit up the usual spots online, just to get a general idea. Turns out, the main guys behind the Rangers are Ray Davis and Bob Simpson. These two are the co-chairmen, the big bosses, so to speak. They’ve been running the show since they bought the team way back on August 12, 2010. I found out that they head up this group called Rangers Baseball Express LLC, which is basically the owner of the team.
Digging a Bit Deeper
But, like I said, I fell into a bit of a rabbit hole. I started wondering about the history of the team’s ownership, and that’s where things got even more interesting. Turns out, there used to be some people who purchased the Texas Rangers baseball franchise in 1989. One of them was even elected Governor of Texas on November 8, 1994. That’s wild! I had no idea about any of this stuff before I started looking into it.
From Washington to Texas
I also found out that the team wasn’t always in Texas. Can you believe that? They used to be called the Senators, and they were based in Washington until 1971. Then, in 1972, they packed up and moved to Arlington, Texas, and that’s how they became the Texas Rangers. It’s crazy to think about how much a team can change over the years.
Pride Night
- Then there’s this whole thing about the Rangers and Pride Night. I saw some discussions online, and I found out that the team hasn’t hosted one.
- They’ve said that they want everyone to feel welcome and included at their games, but it seems like a lot of people think they could be doing more.
Anyway, it’s been a wild ride learning about who owns the Texas Rangers and the team’s history. There’s so much more to a baseball team than just what happens on the field. From the big-shot owners to the team’s journey from Washington to Texas, and even the controversies, it’s all part of the story. I guess I’ll keep digging and see what else I can uncover. Who knows what other secrets are hiding behind our favorite team?
