You know what? This John Walker, I heard people talking about him, how much money he got. They say he’s a big shot, got all the money in the world. John Walker net worth, that’s what they’re saying. What’s net worth anyway? Sounds fancy. Must be something rich folks talk about. Is it like how much land you got? Or how many cows?
I heard some folks talking, say John Walker got millions. Millions! Can you believe that? I can’t even count that high. What’s a million anyway? More than a hundred? Probably. Must be nice to have that kind of money. He must have a big house, a really big one. And lots of cars, I bet. I heard someone mention Magnolia Oil Gas. Is that where he got all that money? And something about Otis Worldwide and NUCOR CORP, I heard them say. Must be some big company things. Don’t know what they do, but it sounds important, and it sure pays well.
They say this John, John B Walker they call him, got 8 million dollars. Another John, John H Walker, they say he’s got 11 million. My goodness, that’s a lot of money! I only got a few dollars in my pocket. What do these Johns do to get so much money? Do they work hard? Do they sell something? Or did someone just give it to them? Some other fella, Johnny Walker, they say he’s in the UFC. What’s UFC? Is that like a club? Do they pay well there? Heard he made some good money too. But not as much as those other Johns, it seems.
- One John got 8 million.
- Another John got 11 million.
- UFC Johnny got less.
I remember my old man, he always said, “Save your money, girl.” But what’s the point if you ain’t got much to save? These rich folks, they talk about “assets” and “liabilities.” What’s that? Is asset like that old mule we had? And liability, is that like when you owe someone money? They say you gotta subtract your debts. Debts, that I know. Like when you borrow sugar from your neighbor and gotta give it back. Maybe that’s what they mean. You take all you have, then take away what you owe, and that’s your… net worth. That’s what they call it.
They also say you can find out by adding up everything you own. Your house, your land, your chickens, everything. But then you have to take away all the money you owe. Like those student loans some people talk about. And car loans. I never had a car. Always walked everywhere. And then there’s credit card debt. What’s a credit card? Is it like a magic card that gives you money? Sounds dangerous. People must end up owing a lot. These young folks today, they don’t know how to save.
There’s this one John Walker, works at a place called Truist, I saw on the internet, in Lexington. He’s some kind of a “Market President,” fancy title, huh? He went to some university, Appalachian State, they say. Must be smart. Probably makes a lot of money too. I only went to school till fifth grade. Didn’t need more than that back in my day.
And there’s this website they talk about, “missingmoney” something. They say you can find lost money there. Like if you forgot you had some money somewhere. I should check that out. Maybe I got some money hiding somewhere, though I doubt it. I usually keep track of my pennies.
This other fella, he knows about “business strategy” and “P/L commercialization.” Sounds like gibberish to me. What’s a “business strategy”? Is that like planning how to sell your eggs at the market? And “P/L,” is that like profit and loss? Like when you sell a chicken for more than you bought it for? Maybe that’s what it is. These city folks, they always make things sound so complicated.
I saw on the internet, on this thing called “LinkedIn,” this John Walker fella again, it has his picture and all. Seems like a lot of people know him. So many people on this internet. It’s like a whole town of folks all talking at once.
This John Walker net worth thing. It’s a lot to think about. I don’t know much about millions and assets. But I know this: having money is good, but it ain’t everything. You gotta have good health, good family, and good food on the table. That’s what really matters. And maybe a few chickens in the yard. That’s my kind of net worth, I guess.
