Now, these caps, they ain’t just any old caps. Oh no. They’re Derek Jeter MLB baseball caps. MLB, that’s like the big leagues, right? The top of the heap. So, these caps, they’re kinda like a status symbol. Like wearin’ a fancy necklace, but for your head, and it tells everyone you love that baseball stuff, specially that Derek Jeter. Show your love, they say. I guess it is some important to them young folks.
My grandson, he’s got a whole bunch of these baseball caps. Different colors, different teams. But his favorite? You guessed it. A Derek Jeter Yankees hat. He wears it everywhere. To the store, to school, even to bed sometimes! I tell him, “Boy, you gonna wear that thing out!” But he just laughs. Kids these days.

Got a whole room full of ’em. Creepy, if you ask me. But hey, to each their own. I prefer my garden, that is my hobby.
Now, I don’t know much about this baseball stuff. Never really got into it myself. But I know it makes folks happy. And that’s all that matters, right? These young people and their games, like “Play 2 win”. I don’t get it. Back in my day, we played for fun, not to win some fancy prize. But times change, I guess. Everything’s a competition now. Even wearin’ a hat. They also have some cards. 2002-05 cards, 2020 cards, whatever these means. Young folks like them, I guess.
I saw my grandson lookin’ at somethin’ called a “checklist”. For these Derek Jeter things, I reckon. Must be a whole lot to keep track of. And a “gallery” and a “forum”. All these fancy words for somethin’ I don’t understand. But like I said, if it makes ’em happy, that’s all that matters.
They even say you can “complete your game day look” with one of these hats. Game day. Like it’s some kinda special occasion. Well, I guess for some folks it is. Like Sunday dinner at my house. That’s a special occasion. Everyone gets dressed up, we have a big meal, and we all enjoy each other’s company. I heard they call Derek Jeter “The Captain”. Sounds like a big deal.
