Alright, let’s jaw about this here Braves mascot, you know, that Blooper fella. Folks seem to like him, though I reckon some of the old-timers still miss that Homer fella.
Who is this Blooper Anyways?
Well, they say he’s the official mascot for the Atlanta Braves baseball team. Big fuzzy thing, he is. Got them ears that stretch out all funny-like. He’s there to make folks laugh and have a good time at the games, down there at that Truist Park. They say he replaced Homer the Brave back in 2018, Homer went off to retire I guess, can’t blame him, running around all the time gets tiring. Now this Blooper, he ain’t just hanging around the ballpark neither. He goes out and about, shaking hands and making nice with folks, you know, public relations they call it.
- Big and fuzzy
- Got them stretchy ears
- Entertains folks at games
- Does that public relations stuff
Where did this Blooper come from?
Now, this is where it gets a bit weird. They say he’s a “product of science run amok”. Don’t ask me what that means, sounds like something them city folks cooked up. Basically, they took everything that makes a Braves fan go crazy, all that yelling and cheering, and mashed it together into this big fuzzy critter. He’s a big fella too, near seven feet tall they say, wears a shirt big enough to fit a whole family. They showed him off first back in 2018 at some fan fest, whatever that is.
What does Blooper do?
Well, besides making folks laugh at the games, he does all sorts of silly stuff. I heard tell he once pretended to steal some fella named Bryce Harper’s shoelaces. Made a big fuss, folks liked it. He dances, he plays around with the kids, he takes pictures with folks. He even went on tour with that World Series trophy they won, went to all sorts of places, stopping 151 times, that’s a lot of stopping if you ask me. They even got a drumline called the Heavy Hitters, Blooper hangs out with them sometimes too. You can go take pictures with him and some team called the Tomahawk Team, seems like a lot of picture takin’ if you ask me.
Why Folks Like Him (or Don’t)
Now, most folks seem to like Blooper. Kids love him, that’s for sure. He’s funny and silly, and he makes the games more fun. But like I said, some of the older folks, they miss Homer. They’re used to him, I guess. Change is hard for some, you know. But Blooper’s been around a spell now, folks getting used to him, they say his fuzzy face is on Facebook and other places folks look at pictures, guess that helps the youngins like him. But I tell ya, as long as he’s good to folks and cheers on the Braves, that’s all that matters, right?
That fancy “logo” stuff
They say that the mascot and them logos, like that Tomahawk thing, are real important for the team. Something about tradition and all that. I ain’t too sure about all that fancy talk, but I reckon it means it’s a way for folks to know who they’re rootin’ for. It’s like seeing your neighbor’s cow in the pasture, you know it’s theirs ‘cause you recognize it. Same thing with them logos, I guess.
So, what’s the deal with Blooper?
Well, he’s just a big fuzzy mascot there to make folks happy and cheer on the Braves. He’s a bit strange, what with being made by “science gone wild” and all, but he seems harmless enough. He dances, he plays around, and he gets folks excited about baseball. And that, I reckon, is a good thing. So next time you’re watching the Braves, keep an eye out for that Blooper fella. He might just make you smile, or scratch your head, one or the other.
Final Thoughts on that Blooper Critter
Now, I ain’t no expert on baseball or mascots or any of that city stuff. But I know what I like, and I like seeing folks happy. And that Blooper fella, he seems to make folks happy. So, I reckon he’s doing a good job. He’s part of the team now, just like them fellas hitting the ball and running around. And as long as he keeps cheering on the Braves and making folks smile, I say he’s alright in my book. Even if he is a bit of a strange one, bless his heart.
