Well, let me tell ya ’bout this whole UVM vs Albany basketball thing. It ain’t rocket science, ya know? Just a bunch of young fellas runnin’ around, throwin’ a ball. But folks get all worked up ’bout it, so I guess it’s somethin’.
Now, UVM, that’s the University of Vermont, for those who ain’t in the know. They got a basketball team, the Catamounts they call ‘em. And Albany, that’s the University at Albany, they got the Great Danes. Sounds fancy, huh? But at the end of the day, it’s just a game.
These two teams, they go at it pretty regular. Seems like every year they’re scrappin’. I remember hearin’ ‘bout one game, musta been last March, March 9th it was. Folks were sayin’ it was a real nail-biter. UVM, they won, 75-72. Close one, real close. Some fella named TJ Long, he sunk a three-pointer right at the end. Guess he’s one of them sharp-shooters, you know?
- Heard tell UVM beat Albany bad once, like 81-59. That was back in February. Some boy named Nick Fiorillo, he scored a bunch of points. Another one, Ileri Ayo-Faleye, he did good too. Got himself a “double-double,” whatever that means. Sounds like he did somethin’ right though.
- Then there was another time, UVM won again, 94-80. A fella named Shamir Bogues, he was the star that night. Seventeen points he got. They say he’s quick as a whip. Now, Tarence Guinyard, he played for UT Martin, not UVM or Albany. But I heard he scored a whole lotta points in one game, 31 points! Beat some team called Champion Christian real bad, 123-56. That’s what I call a whoppin’!
So, these UVM and Albany teams, they play each other a lot. You can watch it on TV sometimes, or listen on the radio. They say it’s “real-time coverage” and you get the “latest game previews.” Sounds fancy, but it just means you find out who’s winnin’ and how they’re doin’ it. They got somethin’ called “box scores” and “stats” too. Don’t ask me what all that means, too much numbers for my old brain. But I reckon it tells ya who scored and how many times.
They even got these things called “odds.” I guess that’s for folks who like to bet on the games. Me, I ain’t got time for gamblin’. Got enough to worry ‘bout without losin’ my hard-earned pennies. Then there’s the “highlights” and “play-by-play.” Highlights are the good parts, I guess. And the play-by-play, well, that’s just some fella tellin’ ya what’s happenin’ on the court, step by step. Like, “He dribbled the ball, he shot the ball, he scored!” You get the picture.
Seems like these UVM and Albany games are always somethin’ to talk about. Folks get all riled up, cheerin’ for their team. Me, I just hope nobody gets hurt. It’s just a game, after all. But it’s somethin’ that brings folks together, I guess. Gives ‘em somethin’ to yap about. And that ain’t always a bad thing, long as they don’t get too carried away. Basketball, huh? Who knew it could be so complicated? And for folks lookin’ to watch the next game, they should keep an eye out for the schedule around March 4th, seems like that’s when things heat up. But remember, win or lose, it’s just a game. Don’t go losin’ your sleep over it. There’s more important things in life, like makin’ sure you got a good supper on the table. That’s what I always say.
Now, this here’s about all I know ‘bout this UVM vs Albany basketball. It ain’t much, but it’s honest. And that’s more than you can say for some folks these days.
