Well, let me tell you about this young fella, Brayden Miller, and his golf thing. I don’t know much about golf, mind you. Seems like a lot of walkin’ and hittin’ a little ball with a stick, but folks seem to like it.
This Brayden kid, though, he’s somethin’ else. They say he won some kind of title, the Boys 14-15 division, whatever that means. Shot a 142 total, and one day he shot a 68, which they say was the best of the whole shebang, for everybody, all them young’uns and the older ones too. That’s pretty good, I reckon.
- 142 total score, that’s what they said.
- 68 in one round, best of the whole tournament.
- Boys 14-15 division champion, sounds fancy.
Now, I heard tell he plays for some school, Fairfield, and he was at some state championship thing. Prairie View Golf, they called it. First shot, they said, he wasn’t gonna let nothin’ stop him. Sounds like he’s got some grit, that boy. Grit’s important, you know, in life and in golf, I guess.
They got all sorts of rules in golf, too, more than you can shake a stick at. Pace of play, they call it. Can’t be dawdlin’, I guess. And how you gotta act, player conduct. Can’t be throwin’ your clubs or cussin’, I imagine, though sometimes I’d like to throw a pan or two myself when things ain’t cookin’ right. And then there’s somethin’ about spectators, the folks watchin’. They gotta behave too, I reckon. Can’t be yellin’ and such, disturbin’ the players.
This Brayden, he’s played at a bunch of places. Notre Dame, they got a golf course there, Warren Golf Course. And Purdue University, Kampen-Cosler Course. Sounds like fancy places, not like the cow pasture we used to play in as kids. He won some points there too, at Notre Dame, somethin’ like 620 points. Don’t know what them points mean, but sounds like a lot.
He’s a winner, this Brayden Miller. That’s what it boils down to. Works hard, I bet, practicin’ and swingin’ that stick. And it pays off, see? He gets his name in the paper, and folks talk about him. That’s somethin’ to be proud of, I tell you what.
They talk about distinguished alumni, player accomplishments, college commitments. This Brayden, he’s probably gonna go to college, play more golf. Maybe get a scholarship, that’s free money for school, they say. Smart kid, good at golf, sounds like he’s got it all figured out. Good for him, I say.
I don’t understand all the golf talk, all them tournaments and courses and points. But I understand hard work and winnin’. And this Brayden Miller, he seems to know a thing or two about that. He delivered, they said. Delivered somethin’ good, I reckon. A win, a low score, somethin’ worth talkin’ about.
So there you have it, what I know about Brayden Miller and his golf. He’s a good golfer, a winner, and he’s goin’ places. That’s the long and short of it. And that’s all this old woman has to say about it. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some supper.
Remember these things about Brayden:
- He’s got that grit, that determination.
- He plays at fancy courses and wins things.
- He’s probably gonna go to college on a golf scholarship.
He’s a good kid, this Brayden Miller. I hope he keeps on swingin’ that stick and winnin’ more of them golf things. The world needs more young folks like him, workin’ hard and doin’ good.
