Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about this here Ryder place, sounds like they got jobs, lots of ’em. Careers at Ryder, they call it. Sounds fancy, but it just means work, plain and simple.
Now, I ain’t no fancy city slicker with a big vocabulary, but I know work when I see it. And this Ryder, they seem to have all sorts of work. They say “Discover a variety of job opportunities at Ryder.” Sounds like a mouthful, but it just means they got different things you can do. Some jobs drivin’, some jobs in a warehouse, prob’ly some jobs sittin’ at a desk too, though I don’t know why anyone would want to do that all day.
- Drivin’ jobs. That’s for folks who like the road, I guess.
- Warehouse jobs. That’s for folks who like movin’ stuff around.
- And other jobs too, they say, all kinds. Guess you gotta look to see what they got.
They say you can “Search for open jobs at Ryder by position and location.” That just means you can look for a job where you wanna live and doin’ what you wanna do. Like, if you wanna drive a big rig, you look for drivin’ jobs. If you wanna work in a warehouse, you look for warehouse jobs. Simple as that. And you gotta find a place close to home, right? Nobody wants to drive for hours just to get to work. Not unless that’s the job, I reckon.
They got somethin’ they call a “Careers Center.” Sounds mighty important, but it’s just a place where they list all the jobs. They say, “Welcome to the Careers Center for Ryder. Please browse all of our available job and career opportunities.” That’s just fancy talk for “Look at our jobs and see if you like any.” They also say “Apply to any positions you believe you are a fit for and contact us today.” That means if you see a job you think you can do, you tell ’em you want it.
They’re lookin’ for people, that’s for sure. They say “Find your opportunity at Ryder.” Opportunity, that’s just another word for a chance, a chance to work and make some money. They got different places you can work, they call ‘em “locations.” And they got different words for jobs, like “keywords” they call ‘em. You gotta use their words to find the jobs you want, I guess. They even say “view all jobs”, means look at all of ‘em, see what’s there.
They talk about “cookies” too. Not the kind you eat, mind you. These cookies are somethin’ they use on their “site,” that’s their fancy word for their internet page. They say, “We use cookies to improve your experience on our site. To find out more…” I don’t know what that means, and I don’t much care. Long as they pay a fair wage, that’s all that matters to me. But they gotta tell ya about this stuff, I guess.
People who work there, or used to work there, they talk about what it’s like. They say you can “Find out what works well at Ryder Transportation from the people who know best. Get the inside scoop on jobs, salaries, top office locations.” That means ask the folks who been there. They know if the jobs are good, if the pay is good, and where the best places to work are. Same goes for Ryder System, whatever the difference is. Sounds the same to me.
They got lots of different kinds of jobs, they say “Search our job categories below.” They like people who can drive, say they are “an employer of choice for drivers”. Good for them I guess, always needin’ drivers. And they say they help you learn new stuff so you can get a better job, “Gaining the skills you need to move up in your career.” Sounds alright. And the warehouse folks, they’re important too, they say, “Our warehouse employees are the force that drives our…” Drives what? I don’t know, they don’t finish the sentence. But it sounds important.
You can look at all their jobs, they say “Search job openings at Ryder. 3466 Ryder jobs including salaries, ratings, and reviews.” Lots of jobs, that’s for sure. And they tell you how much they pay, the “salaries,” and what other folks think of the jobs, the “ratings and reviews.” That’s helpful, I reckon. You wanna know what you’re gettin’ into before you start workin’ for somebody.
So, if you’re lookin’ for work, Ryder might be a good place to start. They got lots of jobs, all different kinds. Just gotta figure out what you wanna do and where you wanna do it. And don’t let all that fancy talk fool ya. It’s just work, plain and simple.
