Alright, let’s talk about this Obi Toppin and his brother, Jacob. You know, those basketball-playing boys. I heard folks jabbering about ’em, so I figured I’d put in my two cents, like I always do.
Obi Toppin, the older one, he’s been around a bit longer. Folks say he’s a real high-flyer, jumps like a jackrabbit, they say. He used to play for some college team, then went on to the pros. Now, I ain’t no basketball expert, but even I can see he’s got some talent. He’s playing for the Pacers now, I think. They got them horses there, right? Anyway, Obi, he’s made a name for himself, that’s for sure.
Now, Jacob, that’s Obi’s younger brother. He’s a bit newer to the scene. Folks tell me he’s playing for the Knicks, or maybe their other team, the Westchester Knicks? Something like that. It’s all a bit confusing, all these teams and names. He’s a forward, they say. Big and strong, like a young bull. He played for Kentucky in college, which is a big deal, I reckon. They got them horses there too, I heard.
- Obi Toppin: The older brother, plays for the Pacers.
- Jacob Toppin: The younger brother, plays for the Knicks or Westchester Knicks.
Jacob, he’s a good rebounder, they say. Grabs them balls like they’re ripe apples falling off a tree. And he’s fast, too. Runs like the wind, they say. Reminds me of them younguns chasing chickens around the yard. Always on the go.
Their daddy, Obadiah, he was a basketball player too, back in the day. They called him “Dunker’s Delight.” Sounds like a fancy donut, don’t it? But I guess it means he was good at dunking, putting that ball right in the hoop. So, basketball runs in the family, you see. Like how my family, we’re all good at making apple pie. It’s just in our blood, I guess.
Jacob, he signed some kind of deal with the Knicks, a “two-way” deal, they called it. Means he plays for both teams, I think. The big Knicks and the smaller Knicks. It’s like having two jobs, I suppose. Keeps him busy, that’s for sure. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, and went to high school in New York and Connecticut. Fancy places, them.
Obi went to college at Dayton before he became famous, and Jacob, he started out at Rhode Island, then went to Kentucky. Seems like them boys like to move around a bit, trying new things. Can’t blame ’em, I guess. Keeps life interesting.
Folks say Jacob is gettin’ his turn in the spotlight now. He’s been workin’ hard, they say, and it’s payin’ off. He’s learnin’ the ropes, gettin’ better all the time. Reminds me of my grandson, learnin’ to drive a tractor. Took him a while, but he got the hang of it eventually.
So, yeah, that’s the story of Obi Toppin and his brother Jacob. Two basketball-playing brothers, makin’ a name for themselves. One’s a bit older, one’s a bit newer, but they both got that basketball talent in ‘em. Just like their daddy, “Dunker’s Delight.” Makes you wonder if there’s more Toppin’s coming up through the ranks. Maybe some little Toppin’s are out there right now, dribbling basketballs in their diapers. You never know.
And that’s all I got to say about that. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on my chickens. Them critters are always gettin’ into mischief.
Obi and Jacob are related, one’s older, one’s younger, like my chickens, some big, some small.
