Alright, let’s talk about this here baseball game, the one with the Seattle Mariners and the Texas Rangers. I don’t know much about fancy stats or nothin’, but I can tell ya who won and maybe a little bit about how they did it.
Now, these two teams, they play each other a lot. It’s called a “season series” or some such thing. I just call it them playin’ each other over and over. Sometimes the Mariners win, sometimes the Rangers win. It’s like that with most things in life, ain’t it? One day you’re up, the next you’re down. This time, we’re gonna try to figure out who was up more.
- Mariners Wins: I heard tell they won some games. Not sure exactly how many, but they did win some.
- Rangers Wins: And these fellas, they won some too. Maybe even a few more than the Mariners, but don’t quote me on that.
See, they got these fellas called pitchers. They throw the ball. And then other fellas try to hit it. If they hit it good, they run around and try to get home. That’s how ya score runs. The team with the most runs wins. Simple as that.
I saw one game, or maybe I heard about it, where the Mariners were losing at first. Then, this fella, Castillo, he started pitchin’ real good. And another fella, Rodriguez, he hit the ball and got a run. They ended up winnin’ that game. It was somethin’ to see, or hear about, whichever way it happened.
They also got these other games, you know, where they play and the scores are different. One time the Mariners scored a whole bunch of runs, like, over a thousand in a season I think. But the Rangers, they scored even more than that. So, it’s back and forth, you see?
Then there’s this thing called “head-to-head.” That just means how they did against each other, not against all the other teams. It’s like if me and my neighbor were havin’ a pie-eatin’ contest. We wouldn’t care how much pie the whole town ate, just how much me and my neighbor ate. Same with these fellas and their baseball games.
One time, I heard the Rangers were the favorites to win. That means the fellas who know about these things, they thought the Rangers would win. But baseball ain’t always that easy. Sometimes the underdog wins. It’s like that David and Goliath story, you know? The little guy can sometimes beat the big guy.
And these fellas, they got all sorts of numbers. Like how many games they won and lost, how many runs they scored, and even how fast the pitcher throws the ball. I don’t pay much attention to all that. I just wanna know who won the game. But some folks like those numbers, so I guess they’re important for somethin’. They call them player stats and they got all kinds, like how many hits and how many times someone ran all the way round after they hit the ball.
I also heard tell about a game played in August. Don’t remember who won that one, but it was a game. They play a lot of games, these fellas. Seems like they play almost every day. Must be tirin’, but I guess they like it. It’s their job, after all.
So, to sum it all up, the Mariners and the Rangers, they played a bunch of games. Sometimes the Mariners won, sometimes the Rangers won. It was back and forth, just like life. And in the end, one of ’em probably won a few more games than the other. But that’s baseball for ya. You win some, you lose some. The important thing is to have fun, or so they say. I just like watchin’ them fellas run around and hit that ball. It’s entertainin’, even if I don’t understand all them fancy numbers and rules.
