Alright, listen up, y’all. We gonna talk about this here basketball game, the Pelicans and the Magic. Don’t know much about them fancy city birds or them rabbit-out-of-a-hat fellas, but I know a win when I see one.
Now, some folks, they got all these numbers and odds, like “plus this” and “minus that”. Sounds like a bunch of hogwash to me. But they say Orlando is the favorite. They’re sayin’ Orlando’s gonna win by a few points, like 4.5 or somethin’. Heck, I don’t even know what that means. But it sounds like they think Orlando’s got the upper hand.
But let me tell you somethin’, these Pelicans, they ain’t no pushovers. They got some fight in ’em, I reckon. I saw ’em play once on that there TV thingy. They was runnin’ and jumpin’ and throwin’ that ball like it was a hot potato. And that big fella, the one who dunks the ball, he’s somethin’ else.

They say this game is gonna be played in Orlando. Well, that ain’t fair, is it? Gives them Magic boys a home-court advantage, they call it. It’s like havin’ your grandma cookin’ you dinner every night – you just feel more comfortable, you know? But these Pelicans, they gotta be tough. They gotta go in there and show them Orlando folks who’s boss.
Now, I heard tell that both these teams ain’t been doin’ so hot lately. They say somethin’ about “against the spread”. Don’t ask me what that means, but it sounds like they ain’t been winnin’ by as much as them fancy number folks thought they would. So, maybe this game will be a close one. Maybe it’ll come down to the wire, like them old western movies where the good guy shoots the bad guy just in the nick of time.
And they talkin’ about “over/under” too. Says somethin’ about 214.5 points. Sounds like a whole lotta points to me. Guess they expectin’ a lot of runnin’ and gunnin’. Well, I like that. Nothin’ worse than a slow, boring game where they just stand around and dribble the ball all day long.
Some folks are sayin’ the winning team model predicts the Magic are gonna win, and they’re pretty confident about it. Well, models and predictions don’t mean nothin’ if you don’t play hard. You gotta go out there and earn that win. You gotta hustle, you gotta fight, and you gotta want it more than the other fella.
I also heard these two teams played back in March. Said the Pelicans were doin’ good then, and the Magic too. So, this is a rematch, huh? Like when you argue with your neighbor about whose chickens crossed the fence, and then you argue again the next day. Gotta see who comes out on top this time.
They’re talkin’ about the new arena in New Orleans too, how it helped the team. And they got new uniforms comin’ out. Fancy stuff. But that don’t matter much if you can’t put the ball in the basket, now does it?
So, here’s my prediction, even though I ain’t no fancy expert. I think it’s gonna be a close game. I think the Pelicans got a good chance, even though they’re playin’ in Orlando. They gotta play hard, they gotta play smart, and they gotta make them shots. If they do that, they can win. But if they don’t, well, then them Magic fellas will be dancin’ in the streets.
And that’s all I gotta say about that. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go feed my chickens. They’re probably wonderin’ where their supper is.
